On the day that Hurricane Katrina hits New Orleans, elderly Daisy Williams nee Fuller is on her deathbed in a New Orleans hospital. At her side is her adult daughter, Caroline. Daisy asks Caroline to read to her aloud the diary of Daisy's lifelong friend, Benjamin Button. Benjamin's diary recounts his entire extraordinary life, the primary unusual aspect of which was his aging backwards, being born an old man who was diagnosed with several aged diseases at birth and thus given little chance of survival, but who does survive and gets younger with time. Abandoned by his biological father, Thomas Button, after Benjamin's biological mother died in childbirth, Benjamin was raised by Queenie, a black woman and caregiver at a seniors home. Daisy's grandmother was a resident at that home, which is where she first met Benjamin. Although separated through the years, Daisy and Benjamin remain in contact throughout their lives, reconnecting in their forties when in age they finally match up. Some of the revelations in Benjamin's diary are difficult for Caroline to read, especially as it relates to the time past this reconnection between Benjamin and Daisy, when Daisy gets older and Benjamin grows younger into his childhood years
A great movie but the digital copy is Windows Media only, no good for iTunes/ipods! That should be made clear in the title.
The other two films which Brad Pitt did with David Fincher are the modern classics Seven and Fight Club. Benjamin Button is a totally different film again in which Brad Pitt proves yet again that he is the most talented actor of his generation. I found the story to be very intriguing and at times a little upsetting. Benjamin Button when born is a baby whom is very old and as time goes by he is getting younger. This is a strange idea which makes many profound things happen in his life. The special features are extremely interesting in how they made Brad Pitt look much older and smaller then what he is in real life. The blu-ray picture is excellent and I feel Benjamin Button will become another classic over time as with the other two films Brad Pitt has done with David Fincher.
I thought this movie was slow and very Over-Rated.
I am a Huge fan of everything the Director David Fincher has done.
And also enjoy Brad Pitt's work.
But this just did not work for me.
I was really looking forward to this being a big David Fincher fan and whilst the film looks great (particularly on blu ray) there's really nothing of note that stands out. You'd have thought that the bottom-zapping running time would have a couple of stand out moments but sadly not. It's not a bad film, it just doesn't go anywhere fast - if it goes anywhere at all. Predictable if you've seen the trailer.
Rather than waste your life on this, I'd suggest a double bill of Fincher's Se7en & Fight Club instead!
