I was told about this movie by my best mate. Now, he's not the one to get emotional over movies but aparantly this movie moved him. I have to say that it did make me emotional too.
I thought that Will Smith's performance was moving and very powerful. It's well casted and a great storyline. It takes time to kick in but when it does, it hits you hard.
Great picture and sound and comes with some interesting features... Especially the one with the Jelly Fish!!

I have never been a huge Will Smith fan. Thinking he can only play his usual, typical super hero, comical role. How wrong I was........ Having seen Pursuit of happyness and then this my opinions somewhat changed. His role in this film is possibly the most dramatic, deep and emotional acting role I have ever seen in any film and Will Smith pulls it off incredibly well. Aswell as what should have been an Oscar winning acting performance the story is also incredible. A very deep and powerful one. This is a much watch and must own movie. You will need to own this movie as I can guarantee you will be wanting to watch it countless number of times. The blue ray quality is also rich and well worth the extra couple of quid.

 A True Masterpiece.

This film engaged me that I was so glad it was on for 120mins. I really feel like I've gained something from simply watching it. Very powerful, a great story and superb performances that I will be recommending to as many people I can.

100% a new addition to my Blu-ray collection, to be honest I feel bad actually paying so little for such great work compared to the plenty of overpriced junk out there.

If you like this movie I would suggest looking up Magnolia, Crash (2004), Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind or The Wrestler for more inspiring scripts.

 Good but not a masterpeace

Im a huge fan of Will Smith and that was the reason why i bought this movie. I Am Legend and Independence Day are my favorite movies from him, but Seven Pounds is totally different compared to those. This movie was very emotional and shows a new kind of Will Smith I have used to. Story is good but the reason why I give 4/5 than 5/5 is that the ending is too easy to predict.

 did not expect this

i am not the biggest will smith fan but this is a great movie which is very in depth and moving. completely different side to will smith rather than him just saving the world, very good.

 A Modern Masterpiece

A modern masterpiece

I found seven pounds to be a very engaging and though provoking movie.
It asks a lot of the viewer but does also reward the viewer.
Despite it being an emotional and very sad in parts, it left me feeling inspired and uplifted.
Can't believe the movie was not a bigger success at the box office.
The performances all round were exceptional. Will smith, rosario dawson, barry pepper and woody harrelson.
I think this movie will be the sort someone watches and then recommends to someone else and 10 years from now, people will give the film it's due as a very good movie.
Very highly recommended.

Another very good film from Will Smith.Takes a while to get going but then becomes very hard to take your eyes off it.I sussed the ending about three quarters through but still thoroughly enjoyed it.
Picture/sound of usual BD standard, with reasonable extras .

 Will Smith At his best

Of late I've become a very big fan of Will Smith, he move away (in general) from the usual type of cheese he used to star in (Independence Day/Men In Black) to more main stream drama has been a good move for a man who is a very very good actor.

Having loved In the Persuit Of Happiness I bought this blind having only seen the trailers but what a good decision that was.

Will's ability to portray the depths of emotions really make you feel for his characters inner turmoil and this really shines through the whole of this film.

Yes as others say once you pick up a few of the clues the motive and ending of this film are obvious.

But those who complain at this are missing the point, this film isn't about the destination, its about the journey and about this man's driven desire to make up for the wrongs he believes he has done.

It is a very touching film with one of those bittersweet endings that leaves you not quite sure how to feel.
We're so used to the prescription twist in the tail that when it doesn't come we feel cheated, but when it does we often complain that it was unrealistic.
Well this time Hollywood produces a film that reflects real life.
How often in life do we know what's coming and can't stop it?
How often do we know something has to happen, settle to the fates only to have something unplanned come along that just makes what needs to happen harder?
This is what this film is about and frankly having viewed this I would find it hard to see any other actor than Smith doing the role or Ben justice

As for the Bluray transfer, its a case of as artistically intended or slightly grainy. Which ever it is it doesn't detract from the viewing pleasure but it definitely isn't the crispest picture I've seen on BR.

The sound is spot on, well balanced allowing the home cinema to be cranked up to cope with the quiet spots (of which there are many) well, picking out really crisp details like the splattering of rain and city hussle and bussle well without the sudden blast of loud music that wakes the neighbours.

Overall this is a wonderful film which helps to remind us that even if you wrong you can set things right if you really want to.

 Good but very predictable

This is a very good movie but IMHO the first scene should have been deleted. It leaves NOTHING to the imagination and you know what's going to happen right from the start. Thirty minutes in and I knew everything!!! That said, it is still a very good movie.
