Gran Torino (Blu-ray)

I watched this movie knowing very little about it but giving it the assumption that it was a modern day Dirty harry. How wrong was I?
What we have here is a beautiful film that follows a character named Walt Kowalski, A Retired auto worker and Korean War vet.
Walt is miserable old and racist and having recently lost his wife his only other love is his Gran Torino. But when the neighbour's young boy gets reluctantly involved with a local gang, things change for Walt and we start to see a man standing up in what he believes in as well as seeing Walt understanding his neighbours.
What started as a miserable old racist defending his own front lawn ends up with man changing the lives of those around him in such a profound way that come the end of the film you will be so glad that this wasn't a dirty harry remake.
Gran Torino is sharp, witty and moving; don't expect big guns or big action because you won't find it here,
What you will find is a film about an old man coming to terms with his own mortality and finding a way to forgive himself for his past actions, a Burdon that he carries through the entire film. 5*****

This is one of his best. The film is great the Blu-Ray even better. Just when you think he was at a end of a long and fantastic career he goes one better.

What an amazing movie makes you think about alot of stuff
Its amazing how this movie has pretty much no action yet it draws you in to watch it all the way through and never being bored which i have to say is very hard these days.
Id put this up with the like of shawshank redemption being in my top 10 movies of all time.
Not giving to much away its about an old bloke who is racist retired korean war veteran befriends a young boy and finds out there not bad people and then helps him out from gang members.
Watch it and trust me you wont be let down its not one to miss

This is an amazing film, and looks stunning on blu-ray. But many reviewers have dealt with that. So all that is needed is to clarify the "Bonus DIGITAL COPY" - In the description it says "transfer the Digital Copy file from the DVD to your PC" - However this is not that type. There is no bonus DVD with the digital copy, like such films as Hancock or Horton hears a who. It is instead the "Digital Download" type where you download it from a link to your computer. And by computer I mean a PC not a Mac. This is NOT mac compatible. So if this feature is a selling point to you, I think you should be aware of these facts. I hope this helps you avoid disappointment.

The Legend that is Clint Eastwood, In a pissed off Revenge Movie.
It does not get better than this.
The acting is very Natural and Honest, by Clint and the rest of his unknown cast.
The story builds up slowly in a Karate Kid, Daniel Son & Mr Miyagi sort of way, but then takes on a very serious tone in the 2nd half
The use of racist language should be terrible but in this case is very Humorous, as Clints character has a dig at pretty much everyone.
And obviously the movie is not Racist, its about understanding and appreciating the qualities of other cultures.
