Her character is both self-centered and sarcastic but she also manages to make the audience feel for her. This is a career best performance from Hathaway who is best known for her fluffy romantic comedies.Rosemarie DeWitt is also terrific as the sister who tries to love Hathaway's character despite all of her problems. Oscar winning director Jonathan Demme (Silence Of The Lambs) shoots the movie using hand-held cameras and seems to have encouraged his cast to give very naturalistic performances. There are problems with this movie though. Too much time is spent on the traditions of the wedding (speeches/songs) but the amazing performance of Hathaway manages to keep the audience engaged. This is a good movie with truly jaw-dropping acting from Hathaway.Because Rachel Getting Married was shot on a small budget using hand-held cameras the picture quality isn't great so there's not much benefit from the Blu-Ray. But there are some good extras including two commentaries.
