Classic Film But Better Sound Quality On DVD

| | See all Lennon1980's reviews (2)

After reading previous reviews on Play.com and other sites I was in two minds whether to upgrade my 2 Disc Digi Pack Extended Version DVD but thought, well for 6.49 I may as well give it the benefit of the doubt.
I was wrong, should have saved my money and waited for a re release to appear that was worth watching.
I only viewed the opening credits and around 5 minutes of the opening scene and was extremely put off my the lack of 5.1HD that is supposed to be apparent according to the description. I had to turn up my surround from my normal 14 which is Very loud to 40 which is MAX to even hear the voices, the surround sound was non existant and sounded tinny as if watching it on VHS through standard TV speakers.
If you want to upgrade from your beloved Double Disk Special Edition Card Board Sleeved DVD Version, think again as you'll be immensely disappointed.
Play responded quick to my email and have arranged a full refund and free return as this, Inverted Commas Blu Ray is not fit for purpose.
Sorry people but you'd be better buying it on DVD or waiting for a re relase in Blu Ray if you don't own it already.

Classic movie, picture quality not good..

Saw this movie last night. The plot and acting was good enough, but I was disapointed with the picture quality. Grainy most of the time. Not what I had hoped for watching this bluray version on a new 55" 2011 model TV

  Worst Blu-Ray transfer yet !!!

Only one word for this transfer RUBBISH,I would hasard to say the dvd was better then Blu-Ray. We buy Blu-Ray for better quality not to be taken for a ride. Not complaining about the film as having seen it before knew what to expect but the transfer is really horrible

I was looking forward to the Blu-ray release of this entertaining
action film because the DVD version was so poor visually.
I was horrified to find that the Blu-ray version is equally as bad.
I realise that some HD discs are better than others but this is the
worst quality Blu-ray disc that I have seen so far.

  Poor transfer

I feel when reviewing a Blu ray the reviews should be about the quality not the movie, ill keep it short, im a hi def nut so I like my movies top notch, this however is not,t the transfer is bad, the tone is soft all the way through themovie, feels like a dream sequence, there are actually some blur moments - when Robin is shouting for help with the 1st fight when he arrives home, I know the age of the movie is to be considered but just look at Rambo 2, years before this and it is alot sharper, ill give it 2 strars coz the movie is good

Great film, great picture but apparently no HD sound!!

If you have the DVD, I see no point in buying the BD until the version with HD sound comes out. If you do not have a copy of this movie, its hard to beat for real live action.

It's about time! One of the most censored films ever it looks like! Oh to have the 12A rating back in '91, we wouldn't have had all this nonsense. Looking forward to finally seeing this as it was intended!

we the wife & i love this film it has a cracking story line different to other versions to make it more interesting but still keeping to it's basic roots .
it is not stated in the title but this is the 12 minute extended version & for the price is excellent value ; picture & sound is brilliant on my 50" samsung tv found no faults .
