  WELL DONE!!

Jason is not fooling around in this. It is not as scary as the original, but it's damn good. The kills are hilarious. I commend Michael Bay on his first horror movie...............WELL DONE!!

Remakes, as a rule tend to get slated by purists. Occasionally deserved, but at the end of the day, if you believe the originals are beyond reproach, why watch a remake in the first place? However if you like to see a different take on a classic movie, can suspend credibility (as I presume most horror fans can), give it a go. Oscar winning stuff it most certainly isn't, but if you like your trashy horror flicks, there really are much, MUCH worse ones than this. And it made my six foot boyfriend jump time after time.....but he is a bit of a weed.... ;-)

  "THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY!"

| | See all SECTION8's reviews (1336)

Die hard fans of the original will no doubt loath this movie, as they did with other remakes of cult classic slasher's. Although the original Friday The 13th still stands up today as a great slasher, the sequels leave a lot to be desired, and ended up as a self parody.
This is a re-boot and not a remake, but being directed by Marcus Nispel who directed the great 2003 remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, he respects the series origins, but also gives us a fleet footed Jason from word go, and although he did not come into frame until the original sequel and donned the iconic Hockey mask until the dreadful part 3, in this he is in his fully gory glory. Don't go thinking that this is going to be a teen friendly PG13 remake, as with 2008's dreadful remake of Prom Night. Or a film that by updating the story dis-respects the orginal as with 2010's
A Nightmare On Elm Street.
This New Friday is a top class slasher with plenty a bloody spectacular deaths. Have no illusions this movie wil split the viewers opinion, it will be loved or loathed in equel measure, but the simple fact is that if a slasher series needed a drastic re-boot it's this, as the original sequels got worse and worse.
This Friday should open up Jason to a new generation of fans. Although the shocks come thick and fast, some do tend to be a little predictable, as with the dog at the door sequence, and the knife through the jetti killings. Also the supposed shock ending is not a patch on the 1980 originals and you just end up waiting for it to happen. But when the shocks work they are brilliant, just check out the twenty minute intro where Jason kills who we think are the main characters leading us into the faulse sense that this is the main set up of characters, it's very well staged and should put the viewer onto a rollercoaster of jumps and shocks.
This is the best Jason film to date, and the ending will no doubt lead to many more sequels. lets hope the quality does not slip as with the originals.
The Blue Ray has basically the same extra's of the DVD release, but with the addition of a great trivia track that goes behind the scenes whilst you watch the movie, also like the DVD version this is the extended cut, that does not really improve on the cinema version but does give the characters slightly more depth.
This Friday is bloody good fun, and is a cut above most horror films released recently.

  JASON BACK ON TOP

| | See all madog2009's reviews (3)

This remake is well worthy of every star it has been taken back to the core and rebooted it has your classic 80s non stop violence and slaughter which recent slasher films have lacked along with a decent enough story line to follow jason is back on top and this film is a must own for everyone

  a really good remake

| | See all mickyTfromPorts's reviews (5)

I really enjoyed this remake i liked how it still kept in the story of the beheaded mother from the 1st and how jason had the sack on instead of the mask for the first few minutes of the film from the 2nd film. The killings are really good in this remake aswell and with a shocking ending that gets us ready for the sequel i hope it will be as good as this one 10 out of 10 from me...

  Jason is BACK!

From producer Michael Bay (Transformers 1 & 2) and Director Marcus Nispel (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) comes a horror that will have you at the edge of your seat.

Its sort of a remake of the original "Friday the 13th" back in 1980, due to the fact its about a few teenage kids going to stay in a cabin/house by crystal lake, the film as some nice gory moments and some edge of your seat suspense. The cast seemed ok even though I didn't recognise any of them from other films or TV shows. It is definately worth a watch and a must buy for horror fans.

The Blu-Ray quality is excellent, the sound was clear and the picture was nice and sharp.

  Great update!!!

Great update to one of the most loved horror characters. Jason returns in this brutal horror movie killing off once again another load of unexpected teenagers. Fantastic deaths and loads of blood. People may be complaining that it isnt scary but the other ones werent either so whats the difference???? All i can say is im a fan and i enjoyed it and so will you as well. Great buy

  Boring and NOT scary!!

I have lost count the amount of times they have released the Friday The 13th movies!! They just get worse and worse and I have no idea WHY studios fund it to get this rubbish made??
The picture and sound is amazing and very sharp but the movie is just such a load of rubbish. 0/5 for the movie but 2/5 for the Blu ray picture and sound!!
