Best Version (yet) - buy, relax and enjoy

Saw 2010 at the cinema and then some months later on VHS (remember that tape stuff?) ,which was a massive disappointment, the sound was lacking and the picture was full of noise. Well move forward to the Blu Ray edition a 100% improvement, not perfect (it is after all an old film & WB has not spent a fortune on the transfer) the 5:1 sound is front heavy but the bass is firm and low (lovely) the picture, which is often dark and red (tricky for any format) is a great step forward. Pray for WB to bring out a SP Ed at some time in the future with loads of extras cause the current disc is slim pickings. I recommend this as the best version (so far) go enjoy!

After watching 2001 for the first time about a month ago i was fascinated by the whole concept of the film. That being said when i learned there was sequel i got even more excited. Now obviously it wasnt going to be as good as 2001, since that was done by Kubrick after all, but i was pleasantly surprised.

The film itself its very much a worthy sequel to 2001. Peter Hyams did a great job on this film, although i thought it could have been a little longer, an extra 30/40 minutes would have been lovely.

Moving on to the Blu Ray itself, the picture quality isn't amazing as youd expect, its better then DVD (obviously) but suffers from grainy parts. Sometimes you can see little artefacts on the some of the space scenes which i thought was harsh. Don't get me wrong though, its a very watchable transfer, and if you have a big tele and sit quite far from it, its not as noticeable.

To sum this up though, i enjoyed it a lot, its nice to have some questions answered that left you hanging in 2001. It doesn't deserve its under the radar elusiveness that its had all these years. Give it a watch if you've seen 2001 and want to know more. Definitely a worthy successor to the original.

Classic film....its a shame that this film (blu-ray version) isnt all that spectacular. It is clear some images have been enhanced but overall it has been a poor conversion. The sound is OK but not the usual Blu-ray standard and I felt a little disappointed.
