A film that I own on video, standard definition dvd and bought recently on blu ray. The film speaks for its self - the perfomances are from character actors at their very best and the quality of the blu ray transfer left me totally stunned. Much more than I could have ever expected.
How great is this movie?? This is the Coen brothers BEST movie. Some people just won't get it but it's so good and you just get locked into this world of Fargo.
Frances McDormand is FANTASTIC and who can forget the wonderful and edgy performance of William H. Macy. Truly are a great cast that make Fargo such a great movie!!
The Blu ray treatment is so good and so sharp and it was made for Blu ray!! The extras may be the same as the DVD Edition but that is cancelled out as the movie in HD tops everything else!
awesome movie. id say this, the big lebowski and true grit are all absolute classic coen movies and a must have for any collection.
In my book Fargo is THE BEST movie ever made, because it is such a enjoyment from start to finish with dazzling dialogue and colourful characters. Not a dull moment in the film and I can't understand anyone who doesn't like it... There are other excellent films in the world, but Fargo is the one I can watch over and over again and still get a total kick out of it every time. The soundtrack with the somber violin-based theme is also spot-on.
This is a great film with stellar performances from McDormand, Macy, Buscemi and pretty much everyone that's in it to be fair. In my opinion the Coens best film, if you like their stuff and you haven't seen this then well worth a watch. With regard to blu ray the picture has not benn remastered in any way so if you own the DVD it's not worth getting the blu ray as there is little if any difference in the picture quality.
