Do NOT be put off because they are not extended versions! This boxset is absolutely amazing. I already own all three films on DVD, but they are no match for this set. Easily the best Blu Ray set I have bought in a while.

The sound is crystal clear and the image is spectacular. This boxset is great for any fan, and best utilised with surround sound and a real big Tv...and dont forget the snacks.

Excellent buy, I suggest you do to.

I was totally against buying this blu ray box set as I wanted to hold out and get the extended editions box set, of which, I hope one day I still might but after watching all three again I thoroughly reccomend this brilliant set as for 15 pounds it is without a doubt money well spent. It is the same as the dvd discs, still packed with loads of excellent special features and well worth the hd upgrade as they look and sound fantastic in blu ray. I was lucky enough to pick this up just after Christmas for 12.99 and considering the extended versions box set is nearly four times as much it is almost a give away for such a great classic set of well made movies. For class and for value this is a no brainer.

3 original release films with lots of extras on Blu Ray. I'm not the biggest LOTR fan but I do like them, so I am happy with the cinema releases, and have no interest in spending an extra 30 quid for a longer running time and some more extras. Another great buy from Play.

I am perplexed by the people who are complaining that this box set has not got the extended versions of the films, it never claimed to have , it is simply the theatrical releases on blu ray at an excellent price. The blu ray transfer is brilliant and is a clear improvement on my dvd copies of the films, personally thats all i wanted or expected from this release, the films are easily long enough for me without additonal footage to mull over, and each film does have a companion disk with extras , so i do think this is good value .

The quality of these versions of lotr isn't bad,the two towers is better than the fellowship with rotk being the best,I am a fan but these are not my favourite films,so for the price I am more than happy...plus the films are on a single disc!

If your an average movie fan with an avid liking for high quality production, but dont want to break the bank during these economically difficult times- this is a sound buy.

Fellowship of the ring video quality using my ps3 is 7/10 Two towers 9/10 Return of the king 9/10. The sound quality is 10/10 all the way through. However the quality of the dvd extras are abysmal, i turned them off straight away.

The actual box case housing the separate dvd cases is cardboard and a little flimsy- nothing special but does the job and looks good.

Decent purchase if you liked the movies and dont really care about a fancy case, map etc.

One of the best Blu-Ray box sets I have, you can really notice the difference in picture and sound quality.
Must have watched each film around 20 times now, I could never get bored of them.

Bring on the hobbit!!!!
