An untouchable classic, Ip Man is a glorious and evocative biopic of the man who defied an empire, pioneered the world's most explosive fighting art, and went on to mentor Bruce Lee- the greatest martial arts icon of all time.

Set in Foshan, China, during the Sino-Japanese War, Ip Man vividly brings to life the brutality of the infamous Japanese occupation, where once proud men are forced to fight to the death for a precious bag of rice. Defined by courage and humility, one man rises to the fore, Grandmaster Ip Man (Donnie Yen): a Wing Chun impresario, whose matchless fighting skill is revered all over China.

Upon refusing to teach his beloved fighting art to the invading Japanese soldiers, he is forced to fight for the honour of his country in a series of battles that will culminate in a kill-or-be-killed showdown with Japan's greatest fighter.

With sumptuous production values, a career-defining performance from Kung Fu Superstar, Donnie Yen, and inspired close-quarter fight sequences by action-legend, Sammo Hung, Ip Man is an unforgettable event-movie experience that will define the benchmark in action-cinema for years to come.

this is the one...donnie was born to play the part of a wing chun master..this is like old school but touched up for the modern era.. donnie brings a presence to the big screne and when he moves its very dynamic...the storyline is good and quite moving at times.. the martial arts are of the highest quality and i have seen alot of kung fu movies..there are times when u just cant wait to see donnie showing the bad boys how its done..i found the blu ray picture to be outstanding at times and a little grainy at other.. all in all a solid movie and disc.. Donnie now takes the top spot for me so if your looking for a stylish kung fu fest then this for you..p.s. cheers play for doing the disc at a great price........

This is a brilliant film, Donnie really delivers. If you like this movie I'd recommend Fighter In The Wind as well.

 Amazing

If i could speak Chinese i would give this 5 stars. There are English subtitles. But that takes nothing away from the fact i think this was a great movie. Amazing fight scenes in this movie. I cant compare this to normal DVD quality as i only seen the blu-ray. But with such fast movement in the fight scene's I'm guessing this benefits more from being on blu-ray. But i can say the picture, color and sound was excellent on my PS 3.

 OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone know before I buy this if it is spoken in english and not just subtitled in english with a japanese or chinese type voice track. I hate subtitled movies, can't read the text and enjoy the movie at the same time... Anyone know pls ?
