One of TV history's biggest catastrophies

For a series that had the most perfect opening season, it does begger belief as to what happened along the way. A show that was heavily character driven, how these abilities affected their lives and how by destiny they were brought together to fight off an effectively written villain.

Season 2 showed a bit of a dip in form, not helped by the abrupt end caused by the writers strike. Many new characters were introduced, many of the storylines were considered boring and very slow.

Season 3, or more particularly, volume 3 "Villains" took all of the complaints from season 2 and threw them off of a bridge. The new characters are mostly unexplored and uninteresting (except Daphne), the comic relief supplied by Hiro and Ando was the biggest, most pointless time waste I've seen in Heroes so far, current characters are largely butchered plot wise (Mohinder being the biggest victim) and I'm not sure even they knew what the hell was going on with Sylar. The writing is just inconsistent and all over the place. They tried to focus more on action this time around but the action wasn't entertaining and the storylines were either irrelevant to the overall plot or just ridiculous. The second half of the season, volume 4 "Fugitives", was a fair improvement as they at least attempted to undo some of the mistakes left by volume 3 and the story had a direction to follow, which it actually stuck to.

So even though I own seasons 1 and 2 on blu-ray, I think I'll skip this one until it is bargain bin price due to it's sheer lack of quality. I cannot see myself re-watching volume 3 and therefore would only be buying for the sake of my collection. I think Heroes will forever go down as one of the biggest disasters in TV show history.

Excellent series, I own the first 2 on blu-ray and looking forward to this purchase. A bit disappointed that the play exclusive art cards only seem to come with the DVD edition?! I will still buy heroes in Blu-ray as thats what my collection consists of so far but my reason for buying Twilight on dvd was simply because Blu-Ray didnt have Art Cards?! C'mon Play.... include the Blu Ray customers too, we r paying extra lol.

  Heroes Season 3

Season 3 of Heroes was split into two volumes, Villains and Fugitives. Villains, although a bit shaky at first, there are some fantastic individual episodes and shocking casualities. Fugutives works very different, bringing our Heroes back together on either side of the fence with a finale that has one of the biggest twists in TV history with a fantastic setup for Season 4. Add to your collection!

  Heroes Season 3

Heroes has been unfairly criticised and yes the first half of the season (Villans) is a bit wobbly. However the second half (Fugutives) is a real return to form. Fast paced but full of nice little character moments. The finale sets up brilliantly for the next season to. I shall be adding this to my collection the moment it is available.
