 Big question mark on 3D!!

I am not a huge fan of this movie as I found it abit too dark and slow for an animation. The storyline isn't great either and I struggled to get into it.
The 3D side of this is a joke as there was nothing I could say 'wow' to. I think because the movie is so dark, I forund it hard to get into it.
The extras are not bad but it's nothing special I'm afraid.

 Great Film, 3D works well.

I can only echo what others have said about the film itself which s great and a must see.
With regards the the 3D version, how anyone could think that this is the new 3D technology is beyond me as is states that this disc comes with 4 pairs of 3D glasses. Now considering how much the shutter glasses cost, do you really think that you will get 4 free pairs with a Blu Ray that costs less than 10 pounds?
Apart from losing the colour detail that you get with the 2D version, the 3D version which uses TrioScopics 3D(magenta/green glasses) actually works really well, shows lots of depth as you would expect from 3D and I found to be much easier on the eyes than the normal red/green glasses.
This Blu Ray is definitely worth a purchase.

 Great film, but

Don't buy this film if you are looking to watch it using your Active LCD shutter, Polarised lens or any other type of 3D (Such as Sony LED TVs, Panasonic LED TVs, Acer Projectors).

Unfortunately this film only comes with a Red/Green 3D version of the the film, however its an awesome film that hearks back to the days when films aimed at younger audiences were scarier :D.

Surely films that don't feature modern 3D content should be labelled as such btw.

 inadequate

A good film, but more enjoyable on 2D bluray rather than 3D bluray (atleast on this release).. the 3D takes away the beautifully arranged colours of the original 2D picture.. never the less a film to enjoy with the family

 3-D Info..

| | See all takeone's reviews (17)

This Blu Ray (as with the standard DVD release) does indeed come with both 2-D & 3-D versions. The 3-D is the red/green technology and NOT the 'Real-D' as shown in theatres. The 'Real-D' technology has not been invented for DVD releases as yet. The way Real-D works in the cinema, with the sunglasses type specs, is with two projectors showing slightly different images to create the 3-D. **Updated Info *** The new 3-D technology has now caught up and this disc will be re-issued on BluRay HD 3-D in 2012, with the cinema 3-D style technology.

 A great film.

A great film by Selick, based on a very good book by Gaiman. If you're a fan of light horror, fairytale styles, this film is for you. It's like a Tim Burton film without the bagage, which is great. Selick did amazing work on nightmare before christmas, and hasn't failed here either. Very entertaining, and well made.

Bought this because the kids loved it. When I sat and watched it with them, I also loved it, great story. The 2D version is as you would expect for a Bluray digital animation, superb and the 3D works really well, about 1000% better than The Santa Express! You can really see the different layers of depth and in some parts items really appear to stand out from the screen. A great Bluray disc.
