It had to happen sometime but finally we get a half-decent movie derived from a video game. And despite a surfeit of pretentious plotting, this is a lot of fun, mainly down to breakneck action, some nifty special effects and dynamic stuntwork. But it gets most of its juice out of Jake Gyllenhaal - delightfully and surprisingly playing his action role as a London wide-boy - and a very feisty Gemma Arterton.
The title says it all, if you're goingto watch this movie, then don't walk in halfway through. May be hard for children to keep up - but nonetheless still a terriffic movie. 10/10 audio & video (on dvd & blu-ray). The blu-ray still has the better video quality. I've never played any of the games, so could only compare it to other movies. Good plot (but sometimes confusing) and a great cast. A great buy!
If you are like me and were a fan of the games then this film will do little but dissapoint you. They do not follow any story remotley similar to any of the games, the prince barely even touches the dagger of time and it is just one long bore.
very poor film.
maybe something for the kids.
I watched this a few days ago, and found the english accents annoying. And the whole story was on the dull side. Especially the "it was all a dream" style ending. Although once you start the adventure you will finish it, because of the glossy action and great cinematography, its just a shame they couldn't get a more solid storyline.
This movie looks good, but unfortunatley it will fail to keep your attention unless you are 8 years old. The plot is hard to keep tarck of and makes little sense and the storyline is just plain dull. Even the good action scenes couldn't keep me interested. I just didn't care and wanted it to end. Have seen worse, but come on Disney/Bruckheimer, you're better than this!
Why the harsh negative reviews of this movie is a mystery - its about having fun & credit were credit is due, the Production values definately earn 5 stars. Lavish set designs, spectacular scenery, brilliant SX & great performances from all - though why Jake Gyllenhaal had an Upper Class British accent & Alfred Molina sounding like an East End cockney, I've no idea - but who cares! Its very much in the vein of 'Pirates Of The Carribean', but not much in the way of character development or plot - but it's so well put together that its a great way to lose yourself for 2 hours & just suspend belief. Picture Quality is outstanding & the DTS HD is fantastic. Go in with no expectations, and you will enjoy!
