  Taker vs Michaels saves Mania!

| | See all JJB888's reviews (33)

Now I'll be honest this was a dissapointing event, with a lot of things not living up but the contest most were looking foraward to, Michaels vs Undertaker was way beyond expectation, it was a modern day classic. Money in the bank was frantic and very fun, Chris Jericho vs Snuka, Piper and Steamboat was better than expected and Steamboat hasn't missed a beat! the diva battle royal was one of the worst women's matches ever, JBL vs Rey Mysterio was dissapointing. Matt vs Jeff was brutal enough to work but the two title main events were average at best, the better was the triple threat. But this was Undertaker and Shawn Michaels show and they saved it and made it worth your time.

Michaels + 'Taker= Possibly the greatest match in history.

As many people have said before, Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels was absolutley breath taking and had a legitimate near death experience for 'taker. However, this only added to the atmosphere. I was there at the actual event and am not exagerrating when I say that EVERYBODY was on their feet for 90% of the match.

The rest of the event was passable in my opinion...except for the 'main event', Triple H vs Orton...the less said about that the better. It seemed to be more of Raw or Smackdown opening match.

Basically, if you're reading this review, you probably are a massive wrestling fan and your getting this DVD/Blu Ray is already a foregone conclusion. It is worth the money though...especially on Blu ray, it looks so good your eyes will bleed!

Just a quick note- The mini Kid Rock concert has been edited out, presumably to avoid paying royalties.

Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Finlay vs. Christian vs. CM Punk vs. Kane vs. Mark Henry vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Montel Vontavious Porter

This Match Started Off Ok, There Were Some Great Spots Like Shelton Benjamin Jumping Off A Ladder To Everyone Else And Kofi Kingstons Performance Was Excellent, However The Ending Was Awful With CM Punk Winning AGAIN. In My Opinion Christian Shouldve Won.

25-Diva Battle Royal

I Was Looking Forward To This Match, I Was Looking Forward To Seeing Molly Holly, Jackie Gayda, Sunny & Torrie Wilson Again, But I Didn't Get A Chance To See Them Because Of That AWFUL Kid Rock Performance And They Didnt Get The Proper Entrances That They Deserved Because Of The Obvious Fact That The Show Was Running Longer Than Expected.
The Ending Of The Match Was Very PoorWith Santino Winning, I Wouldve Wanted Molly Holly To Win Personally.

Handicap Match
Chris Jericho vs. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat & Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka (w/ Ric Flair)

I Liked this Match For One Reason... Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. The Chemistry Between Jericho & Steamboat Was Excellent With Top Notch Performances By Both Superstars.
As Much As I Love "Rowdy" Roddy Piper & Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka They Are WAY Past Their Prime And Shouldn't Be Wrestling.
The Face-Off Between Micky Rourke & Jericho Was A Little Dissapointing. Overall A Very Good Match Once Snuka & Piper Were Eliminated.

Extreme Rules Match
Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy

This Match Was Very Highly Anticipated And Again, It Didn't Deliver, Don't Get Me Wrong It Was A Good Match Just Not As Good As It Could've Been.
4/5

Intercontinental Championship Match
JBL vs. Rey Mysterio

It Was Actually A Good Thing That This Match Was About 20 Seconds Long, I Like JBL, I Think He Is Very Good On The Mic And He Was A Good Wrestler But He's Way Past His Prime. Not Much More To Say About This Match.

Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker

WOW!!!!. This Match Was Absolutely Positively INCREDIBLE, This Match Not Only Met My Expectations It SURPASSED Them By Miles, Especially The Last 5 Mins Of Back And Fourth Action, Towards The End I Didn't Know Who Was Gonna Win, What With All The Finishers And Counters That Taker & Michaels Brought To The Table. "Good Ol" J.R. Said That It Would Be A "Slobberknocker" And that Is EXACTLY What It Was.... Perfect.

Triple Threat Match for the World Heavyweight Championship
Edge vs. John Cena vs. Big Show

Again, John Cena Won The Award For "Stupidest Entrance Of The Night" (Getting ALL Of The Votes) As A Cacophany Of Gormless "Lookalikes" Did That Boring "You Can't See Me" Gesture As Cena Entered The Squared Circle.
Lets Face It, The Big Show Was Only Booked As Filler So That It Doesn't Look Like Cena Vs Edge For The Millionth Time.
Now, The Match Was Very Dissapointing With A Predictable Finish, Surprise Surprise Cenas Champ AGAIN (At Least It Didn't Last Long.... THANK YOU EDGE)
3/5

WWE Championship Match
Triple H vs. Randy Orton

Now I Was Highly Anticipating This Match, But Like Half The Matches On This Card, It Didnt Live Up To It, Such A Shame Because The Build Up Was Excellent. The Match Itself Was Good But The Ending Really Was Bad And Was An Awful Way To End The Show.
3/5

Good Points:
Undertaker Vs Michaels
Molly Holly
Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat
Matt Beating Jeff
The Theme Songs (Touched By VAST, Shoot To Thrill & War Machine By AC/DC)

Bad Points:
Cena Winning The WHC Belt ( Boy, Am I Glad That Didn't Last Long)
CM Punk Winning The Ladder Match Again (Although I Understand Why)
The Show Ran For 10 Mins Longer Than Planned
That AWFUL Kid Rock Performance
Where's Torrie????

Does this include the Hall of Fame ceremony? Other than that Wrestlemania was great so should be a nice addition to my Blu-ray collection.
