Better than Wardrobe, no better than Potter.

After the fluffy Christmas feel of Wardrobe, the only way is dark for this slightly more adult sequel. At the most basic level this is the same film; kids travel into alternate world, have a battle, save the inhabitants, grow up, go back to earth, turn into kids again. There's a magical horn, an ice mirror and a lazier Aslan, but apart from a slightly better handling of action you could splice the two films together and not really notice. Performances seem a little better this time, and we are blessed with a proper baddie - even if the final fight rips off Gladiator something rotten. If you liked the first then you'll find nothing to put you off here.

AS ENCHANTING AS THE FIRST, BUT THE ACTING IS STILL WOODEN!

This is a great second installment of the Chronicles, and if your a fan of the first film you will not be disappointed. The film is amazing to look at and the story is a brilliant fantasy with hundreds of creatures in an amazing world. The good news is what problems the first film had with some of the CGI has mostly been resolved, and you can see that every penny of it's huge budget is up on the screen. There is also a fantastic new CGI creation of a rapier thrusting mouse called Reepicheep who joins the good fight. This rodent creation is voiced to perfection by Eddie Izzard and is lifted perfectly from the original book. But thats where the problem lays. The fantastic CGI creations give better performances than the very wooden leads and it's only Lucy (Georgie Henley) who looks like she's the only one who can be bothered to act, and not just repeat there lines they leaned the night before. Also the film suffers from not having a propper baddie, but thats probably CS Lewis's fault for not writing one, so it was a good idea to make a slight adjustment to the original novel and briefly re-introduce the fantastic Tilda Swinton as the White Witch and give the film a slightly needed lift.
But again as with the first the faults are few and what this film is, is another brilliant fantasy film the whole family can watch. There was some hype about this film being more adult and darker in tone to the first film, but to be honest it's not, so you can rest assured none of the younger viewers will be scared.
A very good seconed chapter, lets just hope the leads can be bothered to act in The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader!

Was more excited about seeing 'WALL-E' than this but I have to say this is defiantly better. It's as brilliantly marvellous as the first one (although the lack of Mr Tumnus means this one is not my favourite, lol).

Like the first one, this is the best CG I've ever seen. Once you've seen Aslan nothing looks quite as good/real. A brilliant story and some funny bits too. I would recommend this for sure! Really can't wait to add it to my collection!
