In the era of the Shogun, an evil young lord rapes and kills, assured of immunity by law. But he didn't count on the Thirteen Assassins. A feared secret force, each with their own deadly skill, the Assassins undertake a suicide mission to wipe out the Lord. As he embarks on a perilous journey, the Assassins close off his escape route and ambush him in a village of death. But little do they know, they are outnumbered four to one by the Lord's team of bodyguards.

Takashi Miike, the director responsible for such uncompromising and unforgettable movies as Audition and Ichi The Killer indelibly stamps his trademark style on the Samurai genre with the ultra-violent, all-action, blood-spattered epic, 13 Assassins.

great film, 13 samuria and ronin who still believe in honour etc come together to stand against a warlord who has been committing attrocities on innocents. first hour introduces us to main characters and then film kicks off when the samuria make their stand. fantastic sword play a must for fans old and new.

 Classic samurai film

This to me is far and away the best samurai film I have watched. That includes films by Kurosawa. The intrigue. The fight scenes. The sets. All come together in perfectly. A film that I never tire of watching.

This is a master class in story telling, the first half of the movie introduces each character and lays out the plot developement ,A young Lord is abusing and even killing indiscriminately,a plan to assasinate him is hatched and skilled samurai are chosen to accomplish the mission .
