This is without a doubt a MUST see film, certainly one of the best and original comic book films in past years! The story is great very funny and full of action and very bloody violence!! The cast is so perfect in every way, nic cage is hilarious as Big Daddy, he plays the character like Adam west played batman and its a great parody! The best character has to be HitGirl played by Chloe Moretz, she is extremely funny and cool and very violent for a child! Make sure you check out this highly entertaining movie worth every penny. Gem of 2010!!
Was telling people that I was gonna watch this movie as it looked like a FUN movie, and it was just that.
Really enjoyed the movie on all levels. Even though it did get a bit darker in the 2nd half.
Love the way the violence was very violent, not comic booky style, and the language was very colourful.
The story started a touch slow, like all Super Hero movies, but was needed to build up an understanding of the characters.
Once the Story kicked in, it was pretty much non stop Action and Dilemmas all the way.
You really could not predict what would happen.
The Characters and Acting was First Rate. Top Marks going to Chloe Moretz as the Awesome Hit Girl, Nicolas Cage as the Goofy Big Daddy and Mark Strong as the Villain of the piece, he is playing the Bad Guy in a lot of Movies nowadays, but always brings something new to the table each time and is Very Watchable. The Other Cast members, Playing Kick Ass and Red Mist were fine, but were not really the Stars of the show.
I also like the way the movie summed up the way some teenagers are invisible and JUST EXIST.
Big Respect to Director Matthew Vaughan, he could have just joined the Hollywood Directors Conveyer Belt of making any old Nonsense, but has stuck his neck out, early in his career and hopefully this will be his calling card.
Aaron Johnson stars as Dave Lizewski, a fan of comic-book heroes who wishes there were more people like them in real life. In a moment of madness, Dave reinvents himself as green and yellow wet-suit clad crime fighter Kick-Ass. If only it were as easy as it looks in the movies... Dave soon finds himself messed up in the dark world of corrupt magnate Frank D'Amico. Luckily his amateurish operation catches the attention of fellow good-guy vigilantes Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) and Hit-Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz). The latter is an eleven year old assasin with a bright purple wig, who thinks nothing of using the C-word and shoots, stabs and annihilates any baddies that get in her way. Based on Mark Millar's story of the same name, the film is expertly shot by director Matthew Vaughn to somehow retain the look of its comic-book origins. Extras include a twenty minute documentary on Kick-Ass's journey from printed page to big screen and director commentary from Vaughn. 5/5. d:-)
Fantast Fun, But not for the Kids as Just about ever one gets Shot. Its a very well exucuted film a true Gem.
Evey thing works perffictly
For once this was one of those overhyped movies that when watched actually lived up to the hype. Loosely based around the graphic comic book of the same name Kick Ass follows Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson) in his efforts to become a well respected superhero pounding the streets of his town after wondering why superheroes arent there in real life. Only he discovers there are some heroes out there and in some ways they are worse than the villains.
While the film is essentially a comic book adaption it is quite dark and mature so it probably isnt really that suitable for younger viewers. That being said it is very faithful to the comic book with only a few minor changes to the story and the characters and it is very well put together. It also manages to retain the great characterisation and dark humour of the book which the cast carry off well. In terms of the cast, while it is mainly led by the teenage stars they do a pretty impressive job, especially rising star Chloe Moretz who once again proves what a strong actress she is going to make. The older cast is also pretty decent with Nicolas Cage putting in what is probably one of his better performances.
Overall this is a comic book adaption with a difference. It feels fresh, original and at the same time it lives up to the comic book and the hype surrounding it. Kick Ass certainly isnt a kids film nor is it just for die hard comic book fans as I myself Im not really into comic books or the film adaptions of them, that being said this film was a very entertaining watch, very well put together and despite the mild gore at times it is very funny indeed. Highly recommended.
