Iron Man (2008)

Another reasonably entertaining action hero from a comic book probably only read by some nerds and Jonathan Ross. Some good action and resonable performances, this is pretty much in Hulk territory. Not as bad as the cheesy Fantastic Four, but not nearly as good as something proper such as the last two Batmans.

IRON MAN is without a doubt one of the best comic book adaptions ever put to screen. The character may be less well known than other Marvel comics as in Spider-Man and X-Men, but the film is brought to life with a brilliant and charming performance by Downey Jr as the lead character. The film is a comic book treat with a story that is sharp, action packed and also very funny, boasting some very spectacular set pieces and also brilliant special effects. I took my 10 year old daughter to see this movie and she loved every minute. The film reminds us how comic book adaptions should be made, and the dreadful disappointments of GHOSTRIDER and ELECKTRA are now a fading memory.
The film is everything the bloated Spide-man 3 failed to be, and raises the bar on other comic book movies of summer 2008, like The Incredable Hulk and The Dark Knight
Do your self a favour and see this movie.
Can't wait for the sequel.

Special effects and casting are superb. Downey Junior was made for the role! Alas like many first films, the story concentrates on how Iron Man came about and is fairly predictable. Close your eyes and the film would seem like so many other Marvel films of late. It's a small complaint though, and film is still a great night in. Now we have the intro out the way the sequel should be amazing!!

After worn franchises such as Spiderman, X Men etc there was a need for a newer Marvel movie and the Iron Man was a brilliantly shot and entertaining film that i have to rank alongside Spiderman 1 and X2 as ones that entertained me the most. Robert Downey Jr is brilliant as Tony Stark and adds some character to the role. The special effects are awesome along with good acting and a solid plot. Enjoy
