From the producers of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight comes Batman: Gotham Knight.

Bridging the gap between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, and directed by Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series), Batman: Gotham Knight taps into the work of three, pioneering anime studios (Production I.G., Studio 4C, and Madhouse) and five noted anime directors (Shojiro Nishimi, Futoshi Higashide, Hiroshi Morioka, Yasuhiro Aoki, and Toshiyuki Kubooka) to create a thrilling anthology of six interrelated, animated shorts based on stories by Josh Olson (A History of Violence), David S. Goyer (Batman Begins), Alan Burnett (Batman: The Animated Series), Greg Rucka (Whiteout), Jordan Goldberg (The Dark Knight), and Brian Azzarello (100 Bullets).

 Great batman animations here.

Whilst i agree that batman:gotham knight is not as brilliant as the animatrix i would say that it is to nolans batman universe what the animatrix is to the universe the wakowskis imagined in their movies. Probably my favourite of the set was "have i got a story for you" i especially like the incarnations of batman the different kids imagined in their stories.

 Disappointing

I'm all for a dark Batman and the 1992 animated series went as dark as it could without going to far. Gotham Knight however brought a cross between the styles of Spawn the animated series and Animatrix. Which in my opinion does dot suit Batman.
The annoying thing is that Batman had a different interpration of a costume , in one particular story where Batman has a device to deflect bullets, his outfit is ridiculous beyond belief looking like a suit of armour in full manga style.
A couple stories did adapt the new Batman Begins outfit whilst others went for the traditional cape and tights look.

Other than Jim Gordon the charcters did not resemble those that we'd seen in Batman Begins or The Dark Knight. Salvatore Maroni resembled nothing like Eric Roberts and I bet most viewers had no idea this character was one and the same.

This is advertised as a bridge gapper for the two films but its no such thing as it doesnt really reference anything in the movies and Scarecrow is apprehended anyway in the opening of the Dark Knight so his appaearance here is rather pointless and he's even behind a new master plan at this point.

The whole continuity of Gotham Knight does not sandwich well between Batman Begins and Dark Knight in any context.
This animated piece of work could have been so much more and for me it did not deliver.

 Nice filler

This is a good filler while I am waiting for the new movie to come out. Very distinctly different animation styles on all the short stories whilst still keeping the Dark Knight feel of the Batman. Only criticism is that the stories are all maybe a little too short. I bought this on Blu-Ray, but as it's a dark movie, you dont appreciate the extra quality, so maybe better value on DVD. At this price worth a purchase for all Bat-Fans

If you have just been gob smacked from seeing the amazing The Dark Knight, and woundered what happened between Batman Begins and the 2008 sequel. This six episode animated movie should just about answer your questions. The animation is very good and the six episodes are also good, but a little short, it would have worked better as a feature length animated movie. But what this disc offers is a very mean and moody hours entertainment.
If your a fan of the Dark Knight, this is a must buy to add to your collection.
