Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow) is searching for a wife. Because of a complicated situation he needs a mate so he can qualify as king of the land. The 3-foot-tall despot has already banished all the fairy tale characters from his land, resulting in a diaspora of familiar bedtime figures.

Shrek (Mike Myers) and the obnoxious Donkey (Eddie Murphy) factor in when Farquaad concludes that he needs dragon-slaying assistance. The woman he wants is the beautiful Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz), who's imprisoned in a castle by said dragon. To cut a deal to keep his house, the antisocial Shrek accepts the mission, except he falls in love with the princess he's been ordered to find!

shrek is a thrill ride from start to finish with Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy perfectly cast as shrek and donkey.

Shrek is without a doubt one of if not the funniest animated films ever. There are times when it had me in fits of laughter. But its not just the humour that makes his film great the sory itself is wonderful and the animation is right up there with the likes of monsters inc and ratatouille. If you want a fim that will make you and the whole family laugh out loud i suggest you buy this.

Brilliant family film, alwas on at christmas like it should be. The idea and plot are definately unique and the characters make it perfect. Eddie Murphy as donkey is hilliarious. Fully enjoyable with some most memorable quotesa nd scenes including the rescue of Princess Fiona and the fight at lord farquad ( don't think i spelt this right ) .Best Shrek in the trilogy.

 Best of the Franchise

What can one say? It is the best of the Shrek franchise by a country mile. Laugh out loud funny - starting with the opening lavatory sequence - in so many places. Yet can I be the only one who has held back a tear or two when Shrek & Fiona seem not to be destined to be together?

So many spoken and visual gags you have to see it time and again. Fantastic!
