Based on Steig Larsson's literary phenomenon, the trilogy follows the unlikely heroine Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace) and journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist), first as they unite to solve the case of a missing girl and then as they fight to uncover the truth about Salander's past. A past full of secrets that a mysterious underground Government group would kill to keep hidden.

Now there's more to discover with the extended versions of the films, featuring 2 hours of never before released feature content, available in both original Swedish Language with English subtitles and English Language Audio.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo: Forty years ago, Harriet Vanger disappeared off the secluded island owned and inhabited by the powerful Vanger family. There was no corpse, no witnesses, no evidence. Nearly forty years later a journalist by the name of Mikael Blomqvist gets an unusual assignment. He's contacted by Harriet's uncle, Henrik Vanger, who wants him to find out what really happened to Harriet. Mikael takes on the job, with help from mysterious biker girl and computer hacker Lisbeth Salander. This unlikely pair form a fragile bond as they dig into the sinister past of this family and find out just how far they're prepared to go to protect themselves - and each other.

The Girl Who Played With Fire: Lisbeth Salander and crusading journalist Mikael Blomkvist are once again caught up in a brutal muder investigation. Having served his prison sentence, Blomkvist returns to Millennium intent on exposing a billion dollar sex trafficking ring. When two of his researchers are murdered, Salander is framed for the murders and emerges as the police's chief suspect. Unconvinced, Blomkvist attempts to track her down and find out the truth. But secretive hacker Salander goes on the run and soon stumbles upon secrets of her own past.

The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets' Nest: Under police guard in hospital, Lisbeth Salander is charged with murder and awaits the trial that has the country gripped. Cut off from all communication with the outside world, she must rely on journalist and former lover, Mikael Blomkvist to prove her innocence and expose the political cover up that threatens to destroy her freedom. In his way stands a mysterious group who will go to any lengths to keep the shocking truth of their actions a secret.

This is absolutely the most perfect set of thrillers ever made, very true to the books, gritty and real and rich with detail, very sexual and violent at times but visually stunning and the stories really keep you interested, the cast is amazing especially the lead actress, having seen the brilliant remake with Rooney Mara its fair to say she did an amazing job and both deserve to be seen. If your curious to watch these movies dont be put off by the subtitles you could always watched the dubbed English versions on the disc, these are massively extended too and look great on bluray

 The Girl ....Trilogy (extended version)

Having thoroughly enjoyed the books I bought the extended DVD trilogy. We watched each 3-hour film dubbed in English rather than in Swedish with subtitles and were completely absorbed. The films were 90+ % true to the books. Acting, scenary and atmosphere were superb. Books and films have been the most gripping I have come accross for a long time. If you bought the 2 hour versions I feel you may have well missed out.

One of the finest Trilogies Ever...

*This is a great trilogy that is very well made. The story is hard hitting and full of substance.
*If you missed these DVD's the first time this is a great opportunity to catch up. This time the each film has been split into 2x 90 minute parts (6 parts & 9 hours in total). This makes it easier to watch as the original films could be quite heavy going. Each part has a recap making it feel almost like a television boxset.
*The films stay very close to the books but a few bits have been missed out but i feel this is due to the fact the films are long enough already. The first film is the best individual film as the sequels are made to carry on from the first film, even so they are still great films. Overall a boxset well worth buying.

stieg larsson trilogy a must see !

I don't know what Trilogy "danieldavidf" was watching but it obviously wasn't the same one as "sdx800" and myself. German subtitles ???

I would have to agree with "sdx800" 110%,I thought the "whole cast" were exemplorary and it was as close as to the books as could be. There was some background missing, but if you haven't read the books you would be none the wiser and this didn't take anything major away from the plots in the films. If it takes you 8 hours to read a book, youv'e done extremely well to precis that down to 2 hours without losing hardly anything, and although I haven't watched the American version, just cannot see daniel craig and the American actress pulling it off, although I will give it and them the opportunity to prove me wrong.
Although American subtitles, again you have to market to the masses, but I think the acting was so good you didn't really notice.

I am somewhat confused because, the 4 x discs, with a mere time duration of just over 2 hours, from Play.Com, showed about 65% of a previous version I had seen, with German sub-titles! Furthermore, I had read all 3 books, written by Stieg Laarson, and too much of the original stories was missing from my purchased DVDs. Had I not read the books, or seen a far better and longer version of this trilogy, I would have been completely lost as to the plot. In truth, the 4 x dics I purchased, was a total waste of money. Duration: 9 hours and 55 minutes! I truly beg to differ! Totally disappointed and would never recommend to anyone, to buy the Girl... Trilogy.
