Ok, it's worth pointing out that like so many other people, I bought the series disc by disc. So in fact I don't own the cardboard box that you see in the picture. I do however, own all the discs!
Dispite this though, the series is so good that I may have to go out and buy it again. I originally owned all the episodes on video tape and I do detect a little bit of editing here, although it doesn't say anywhere that it has been remastered it certainly has had a little nip and tuck between scene changes here and there.
The picture quality is of a good standard between series 3 - 9 as these are the colour series. The earlier episodes of the first two series are black and white ... and these have been remastered despite what it says. Maybe the BBC felt that they didn't need to do anything to the colour episodes????
Tagging along on the specials disc are plenty of those lovely little additional features that us DVD fans love so much. There's the appearance on "Blue Peter", a public information film and an episode commentary amongst other things to wet our taste buds.
If you haven't seen Dads Army before you are in for a real treat as it is really well written. Possibly better than you remembered!
It has over the years become a childrens favourite to, so if you are going to watch it with your children you may wish to know that the word "Bastard" appears in one or two of the early episodes. This may not bother you, but if it does ... They are safe with all the colour episodes. :)
Overall it's an enjoyable watch and I thoroughly recomend it to all those of you that remember it from it's original run, and if you don't remember it ...... then you really are in for a treat!!!!!!!!!!!!
