The Fellowship Of The Ring: In a time before history, in a place called Middle-earth, a dark and powerful lord has brought together the forces of evil to destroy its cultures and enslave all life caught in his path. Sauron's time has come and he needs only one small object - a Ring that has been lost for centuries - to snuff out the light of civilization and cover the world in darkness.

The Two Towers: The Fellowship has divided and now finds themselves taking different paths to defeating Sauron and his allies. Their destinies now lie at two towers - Orthanc Tower in Isengard, where the corrupted wizard Saruman waits and Sauron's fortress at Barad-dur, deep within the dark lands of Mordor.

The Return Of The King: Members of the fellowship prepare for the final battle of Middle Earth, while Frodo & Sam approach Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring...

Three of the finest films ever created! The Lord Of the Rings trilogy boxset is a must for any die-hard LOTR fans plus even if your not ITS STILL ACE!!! :D

Its full of many MANY deleted scenes that are straight added into the films making the complete lot of films around... what? maybe 14 hours long in total??! Something to that effect!

But its also completely packed full of Dvd Extra's including the making of the Lord of the Rings and the transfer from book to film. This on its own is like 6 hours worth! BRILLIANT!

The box and all seperate cases are wonderfully surrounded by beautiful artwork and are worth every penny you pay!

I absolutly love LOTR and when this came out i spent £60 to get it and even at that price it was worth it. At just under half that its a must buy!!

SO SIT BACK! AND GET READY FOR MIDDLE EARTH!

This is without a doubt the greatest trilogy ever put to screen !
These extended cuts of the cinematic version are far better, as they get every thing out of the fantastic story. These cannot be watched as three seperate movies, as they were filmed as they should have been as next chaptors, so to watch them out of order would be a huge mistake. Star Wars used to be the greatest saga, but after the dissapoinment of Episode one and run of the mill episode two. I have never read the LORD OF THE RINGS books, as they look too long winded and heavy going, but you can tell that these are classic adaption from a avid fan, and overshadow's my much loved Star Wars saga in scale characterisation and brilliant story telling. all three chaptors of the classic books are fantastic, and all three are five star classics.
This box-set leaves you begging for director Peter Jackson to film the first chapter THE HOBBIT !
These are the greatest fantasy films ever put to the screen. YOU MUST BUY THIS NOW !

 In a word "brilliant"

Extremely true to the books, the three Lord Of the Rings films are absolutely superb. Brilliant special effects, excellent casting, you just can't criticise any element of the films at all. The extended versions are well worth it. They don't just add in meaningless shots, they add in critical story elements that were omitted from the cinema versions to keep the films a reasonable length. The additions change the light the story is portrayed in, and while not absolutely essential, add real depth. They can not be recommended highly enough. The books tell a huge story and long films are needed to retell the story accurately. Immerse yourself into the extended versions and you will find it well worth it.

There are many, many fantastic DVDs on the market at present full of fantastic extra features but the extended 'Lord of the Rings' films still remain the best there is. The extras alone would make them precious things - hours and hours of behind the scenes documentaries covering EVERYTHING you'll need to know about the production of this groudbreaking trilogy. The superb effects from WETA, the creation of Gollum, costume design, casting, sound design, music, armour, weaponry, location scouting, set design, maps, galleries, pre-production sketches...the list is immense. Where many DVDs would gloss over the subject in short 10 minute featurettes every aspect gets its own extensive documentary including interviews from everybody involved. Plus we get FOUR fantastic commentaries per film including just about every major cast/crew member. So, the special features are amongst the best ever produced but what about the films? Peter Jackson astounds with his directorial skill (and remember, this is a man who grew up making low budget horror movies) and creates a trilogy that equals, if not betters, the quality of previous classic trilogys (and yes, I do mean Star Wars) And if you loved the films in the cinema you'll go beserk at the extended editions, we're not talking a couple of extra minutes gore here and there, but close to two-and-a-half HOURS extra footage reinstated to the trilogy. And it's all quality stuff as well - more Gollum, more characterisation, more fan-favourite scenes from the book, and, best of all, more Christopher Lee. One of the main flaws of 'Return..' (apart from too many endings) was the loss of Christopher Lee as Saruman. In the extended editions he fianlly gets a chance to go out with style and is sure to have all fans cheering. Also well worth a look is the addition of the quite terrifying Mouth of Sauron which adds a great deal to an already near-perfect experience. I could go on, in fact I could be in danger of writing as much gushing praise as Peter Jackson likely used rolls of film for this fantasy epic. But, you probably all know how good it is already. Hey, you've probably even bought all the DVDs already. If not, order it this second, there really is no excuse. The amount of enjoyment you'll get for you cash is beyond calculation. In a perfect world, all DVDs would be this good...
