Born Free: Filmed in spectacular African settings, we witness the real-life adventures of the late Joy Adamson, her husband George, and Elsa the lioness.

Living Free: Set against the spectacular backdrop of East Africa, this true adventure continues the story of Joy and George Adamson (Susan Hampshire, Nigel Davenport) and Elsa, the lioness they once raised and set free. Elsa returns to the Adamsons because she is dying. Joy and George are then faced with a painful decision: should they shelter Elsa's cubs from the dangers of the African wilds, or should they set them free? A touching story of dedication and courage, 'Living Free' confronts the dilemma of letting go or holding on to what you love.

My Dad took me to see this when I was a child. I will be 50 this year. It was a film that I always remembered and wanted to see again. I would like all families to sit and watch this film together. It has everything. It shows what love is and that's something you never forget. I no longer have my Dad but I have this wonderful memory of this film we watched together. Its such a lovely film.

 A Great Adventure

Born Free was made in 1966 and features Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers as Joy and George Adamson, a real-life couple who raised Elsa the Lioness, an orphaned lion cub to adulthood, and release her into the wilds of Kenya. It is based upon Joy Adamson's 1960 non-fictional book Born Free. The musical score is by the wonderful John Barry and won numerous awards. I can only agree with the other reviewer, a great family film that does bring back many memories.

Living Free is a 1972 British film starring Nigel Davenport, Susan Hampshire and is the sequal to Born Free. After Elsa the lioness dies, her three lion cubs (Jespah, Gopa, and Little Elsa) are forced to move to a game preserve and must learn to hunt on their own with the help of George Adamson and his wife, Joy. Wonderful
