5 Engaging and stimulatinglespuits | 31/01/2011 | See all lespuits's reviews (4)You'd think a relatively low budget, twenty year old, TV version in 4:3 ration would have little going for it against the modern windscreen blockbuster. In fact, my granddaughter was hooked from the outset and enjoyed it more. The reason is that it takes its time, gives the imagination a bit of space and isn't always bombarding you with special effects and excitement. As a result, the magic grows. It also has much more of a sense of humour and the actors plainly enjoy themselves. Warwick Davis dressed up as an owl is much better than any CGI effect. Shorn of portentousness and pomposity, the story is engaging and really stimulates the imagination instead of overwhelming it.
