Vampires have come "out of the coffin" and are now living among us. Surviving on synthetic blood, they no longer need human blood to survive. Or so it seems...

From Alan Ball, writer of the Oscar-winning Best Picture American Beauty and creator of the Emmy Award-winning HBO series Six Feet Under, comes the critically acclaimed world of True Blood, adapted from American author Charlaine Harris' The Southern Vampire Series featuring acclaimed novels Dead And Gone, A Touch Of Dead, Dead Until Dark and more. Episode directors include acclaimed moviemakers John Dahl (The Last Seduction) and Heathers helmer Michael Lehmann.

The small town of Bon Temps, Louisiana, boasts a wide array of colourful locals. Meet Sookie Stackhouse (Academy Award winner Anna Paquin - The Piano), a sweet and innocent waitress who hides her powerful ability to read minds; Bill Compton (British actor Stephen Moyer), a 173-year-old vampire who's just moved back to town; Sookie's brother Jason (Aussie hearthrob Ryan Kwanten - Vinnie Patterson from Home And Away), a ladies' man who can't seem to stay out of trouble; tough-as-nails Tara, Sookie's loyal best friend; Sam, the owner of Merlotte's who tries to keep his feelings for Sookie to himself; Lafayette, a man about town who's always cooking up something illicit and "off the menu", and a quirky cast of characters who each hide their dark secrets in the shadows of night in this series that's like no other.

 Great yet slightly disappointed

Firstly I want to clarify that I absolutely love the True Blood Series.
I got the boxset for christmas and was super excited about watching the series again. I was also excited about what extras might be on the discs etc etc.

The boxset is one dvd box with 5 dvds inside. 2 episodes on the first and last disc and 3 on the others.
Now to the disappointing bit, the extra's that I had such high hopes for are nonexsistant. The only extras on each dvd are commentaries, which I rarely listen to (although I might make an exception). I'd then hoped that maybe one of the dvds would be full of extra's.........nope.
It would have been nice to see maybe a "making of" documentary, cast interviews, special effects info etc etc.

So to summarise.............
Amazing show which I would score 5/5 and highly recommend.
The Boxset only 3/5, the amount that you pay for a boxset I kind of like a little something extra than what you could just watch online.

 Loved it

Ok firstly i have read and absolutely loved the books, and i have always believed that any film/series has never lived up to the books... so i was pleasently surprised by True Blood... In this series more information and story lines were added whereas in other situations details are usually taken away. Even after reading the books i found that i could not predict what was going to happen next and i was gripped from one episode to the next!! ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!! would highly recommend to any vampire fan!

 Amazing!!

This is a great season!
I watched a few on TV and I couldn't wait any longer so I bought the whole first season.
A must Buy!!
If you liked this, then your should consider reading the books as they are a whole different story and just as fangtastic ^^D

Who doesn't wanna do bad things?

I have to say, having heard a lot of great buzz about this show before it started airing here and knowing it was from Alan Ball, the man behind Six Feet Under and HBO, I had a feeling this would be my kind of thing before I even saw a second of it.

That said even I was surprised by just how quickly this Vampire drama really gripped me. A total convert before the first episode was even over this is outstanding stuff!!

There's more than a few conventions of the genre in here that those familiar will recognise but wrapped up as it is in unashamed graphic adult detail (this is NOT for the little ones even remotely!!) with lashings of sex, blood, violence, sweat and murder it becomes a semi-trashy treasure that revels in it's content but still finds time to make every character a real person and to use that frankness to mask some strong allegory as well. With terrific actors in every role - with special plaudits to Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer and the (apparently) fearless Ryan Kwanten amongst them.

I'm a True Blood addict and the first season hasn't even finished airing yet! I can't wait for seasons 2 and 3 and can only hope the quality stays as high!

Wow! I started watching this with low expectations, but then I got totally hooked! Great acting, and cool dialogues. I recommend this to everyone over 18 ;) Strange, sexy and bloody...
