Horace Rumpole (Leo McKern) is the down-at-heel yet brilliant barrister who plies the courtrooms of the Old Bailey. Fond of quoting Wordsworth and notorious for turning away many suits according to his own moral code, he never prosecutes, always defends.

Famed for winning his cases there is one person he will always lose out to - his wife, ''She Who Must Be Obeyed''!

Includes all 7 series plus Rumpole's Return.

Written by John Mortimer (based on his best-selling books).

Not only an excellent series, but also a perfect price. All these seven series long (35+ hours) fantastic rumpole episodes are packed together in one box set (with english subtitles) and given away for the price of a double dvd series. I don't know what you are waiting to get it!

First of all thank you Play.com for prompt delivery as usual. This collection is 12 pounds cheaper than "the telegraph" and "simply entertainment" This is a must for family entertainment whether you have a legal leaning or not. Personally the late Leo McKern reminds me of so many "Old Bailey Hacks" from my time in the Metropolitan Police. It is a pleasure to watch the great man at work. Nobody that I can think of could ever do this role justice. At this price you can't go wrong.Buy it for yourself, if you do not like it to someone for a Christmas present. My guess is you will keep it. Enjoy.

Some of the best writing, beautifully transposed to the small screen.
I hadn't seen a single episode before buying this box but was seduced by the other reviewers.
If you love language or the law buy it NOW.Great series, amazing value, what a find!

 Classic

An amazing price for a piece of classic tv! Rumpole is intelligent, thought-provoking and politically-incorrect - something tv these days is distinctly lacking!
