 A Pirate's Life for Me...

Wow. This film is by far one of the greatest pirate films ever made - and who'd have thought it was based on a Disneyland ride?!

What with an amazing cast including Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley,Orlando Bloom and Geoffrey Rush and a brilliant storyline (cursed pirates turning into zombies at night - genius!), this was sure to hit a chord throughout Hollywood, but who'd have foreseen the impact it had?

Johnny Depp creates an extraordinary character with Captain Jack Sparrow, the ever-witty, seemingly-drunk pirate, Keira Knightley a vision of beauty with the well brought-up daughter of a Governor, Elisabeth Swann and Orlando Bloom portrays a hard done by blacksmith, whose only goal is to save Elisabeth from her gruesome fate.

All in all, Pirates of the Caribbean:Curse of the Black Pearl is a fantastic film, featuring everything you'd want and expect from a Pirates film. Arrrrrrr!!

 One great movie!!

This is a defiant must see movie. Gore Verbinski did a great job on this movie!!
Personally i didn't think much of this movie. Good yeah but not great!! pirates 2 & 3 are the best!
Johnny Depp makes the film what it is! and probably has one of the best performances in hollywood history in this movie. Keira Knightly, Orlando Bloom and Geoffrey Rush also all perform great in the movie.
The movie sets up the pirates world brilliantly and is a great edition to and DVD collection.

 A EXCELLENT ADVENTURE !

This has to be the best Pirate movie ever, but thats not saying much when you compare it Polanski's Pirates or Cut throught Island ! The tone of the movie is set just perfect, and Depp is a revalation as the now iconic Jack Sparrow. The rest of the cast are very good as well. The Jokes are very funny. and the action is brilliant. but where this film excells is the sheer imagination. The cursed crew of the Black pearl are so brilliantly brought to life. and the scene where the skeleton crew walk across the sea bed is amazing. Also the music score is outstanding, It's pumps up the action scene and makes the chilling moments even more so. This is one of the all time great family movies and will be loved for years to come.

One thing was certain in my mind as the final credits rolled for 'Curse of the Black Pearl' - Johnny Depp is a bloomin' genius. With Captain Jack Sparrow he has created a comic character of quite extraordinary brilliance, charm, humour and creativity. And though he is certainly the main reason I would recommend this film to anyone 'Pirates..' is a hugely enjoyable swashbuckling action-adventure that all the family is sure to love. Though suitable for kids it can sometimes get a little dark (the zombie pirates are fantastiacally realised) and the plot is never patronising in its simplicity - it manages to entertain, surprise and thrill for every one of its 135 minutes. Cracking effects, a witty script and some superb action sequences all add up to one of Disney's best films in years as well as one of the greatest action-adventure movies of the last 5 years. And all this from a film based on a theme park ride....you wouldn't have thought it possible. It's certainly not a idea destined for success, just look to the pathetically dull 'Haunted Mansion' for proof of that....
