It's difficult to believe that 'disney's' 'pinocchio' is 70 years old, the film has entertained generation after generation and will no doubt continue to do so.
I have lived with the presence of this film all my life and can remember seeing it first time around at the local cinema, since when i've taken my kids to see it and since purchased it on 'video' then 'dvd' and now ? ...A enhanced version of the timeless classic.
Having previously purchased in recent times the 'platinum' version of 'sleeping beauty' i know we are in for a treat when it drops through our door.
Considering how old the film is the standards of animation the 'disney' studios achieved with the early 'feature-lenghth' animated movies is pretty remarkable.
The film tells the story of a puppet maker 'geppetto' who craved for a child of his own, a fairy god-mother put life into one of his puppets...pinocchio'
'Pinocchio' soon found that there were people who would exploit him but 'pinocchoi' had to learn the lessons of right and wrong the hard way despite advice from his appointed concience 'jimminy cricket'
'Pinocchio' wanted nothing more than to become a real boy but to do so he had to prove he was both 'honest' and 'worthy' of such a gift.
This is a charming story with both the 'songs' and the magic we've come to expect from 'disney' down the years.
The story of the little wooden boy who was born from a wish, and during his time only wished to be a little boy. Pinocchio is created from love but to become a real boy he must learn the difference between good and bad. A movie of morals, right and wrong are taught clearly throughout the movie. Doing the right thing leads to happiness, the wrong thing leads to dire consequences. This is a classic Disney movie, funny jokes, catchy songs and memorable characters, including one of their most evil villains of all time. A great movie for the whole family, it's impossible not to love this little wooden boy. 1940's classic which hasn't seemed to age a day!
this is a all tme classic its one of the best disney films ever made along side snow white , sleeping beauty.and jungle book this 2discs platinum edition has a lot of features and commentarys to keep you going for a few hours.if your young or old you cant help but love pinocchio they dont make them like these no more. yes it maybe digitally remastered but its lost none of its magic.
After 70 years this still remains and probably will for another 70 the best piece of animation ever comitted to film. The general quality of the animation and just the attention to detail are all absolutley superb. One to treasure.
I usedto watch this all the time after my grandad bought it me when i was about 5, and im still watching it now on video, a must have :D
