Written and directed by Eric Sykes, this is a classic silent comedy about two workmen and a plank of wood, with chaos not far round the corner...

 Comic Genius

I think the previous reviewer must have been watching something else. The Plank is a brilliant silent movie Eric Sykes is a comedy genius he is the comedy master, the humour in the film is Called Slapstick I think the previous reviewer must like to watch comedians who use expletives to get laughs? The plank has stood the test of time also it is great to see the comedians of the past appearing in this film, the plank was remade many years later and hadn't lost any of the comedy timing. I would rather watch the plank/Mr H is Late/it's your move and rhubarb rhubarb any day than watch any of the modern day comedy performers.

Eric sykes is a comedy Legend

 Must have - Comedy genius

The first time I saw this I was crying with laughter along with my mates. Its brilliant now, let alone in 1967. I highly recommend this for all ages, a must have.

40 years old and still funny

This film puts almost all modern "comedy" to shame. There is no profanity or innuendo, how could there be - it's a "silent" film?

You really should have a copy of this on your shelf for family gatherings, especially for times like Christmas.

 good fun

a timeless classic tommy cooper and eric sykes are absolutely brilliant british slapstick at its best

 NOT FUNNY AT ALL

| | See all gangsta101's reviews (78)

I know its 1967, but this is so bad, it ruins comedy, the most annoying thing is how it looks like everything is so planned, its 46 minutes of irritation, boredom and anger, Do not buy this, buy something that is actually funny like Lee Evans or The Naked Gun
