One of the most popular Disney films ever, The Jungle Book is a song-filled celebration of friendship, fun and adventure set in a lush and colourful world. Inspired by Rudyard Kipling's"Mowgli" stories, Disney's 19th animated masterpiece was the last animated feature that had Walt Disney's personal touch.

The jubilant adventure begins when Mowgli, a little boy raised by wolves, is urged by his friend Bagheera, a wise old panther, to seek safety in the man-village. Feeling very much at home in the jungle, Mowgli resists and runs off. Much to Bagherra's dismay, Mowgli meets a new friend with a happy-go-lucky- philosophy of life- Baloo the bear, a lovable " jungle bum." Together, the three buddies find the journey back to civilization anything but civilized! They encounter a crazy orangutan, the hypnotic and sly snake Kaa and the menacing Shere Khan!

An excellent restoration whose colour towers above the first issue, fine extras and a supremely entertaining film. But its in the wrong screen ratio. There's a touch more detail at the sides but the top and bottom have been severely chopped to create a widescreen image. Original aspect ratio was either 4:3 or 1.66:1. Did Disney think no-one would notice?

Classic Disney, in the top five of their cartoons. You know the songs, you know the characters. Can't think of any major criticism; it's a little on the short side and it's hardly heavy with plot, but then that's not why you'll buy it. Ideal Christmas present for anyone with a soul.

This is my favourite Disney film and in my humble opinion the best. One of the first Disney cartoons to appeal to children and grown ups alike. Phil Harris suitabley laid back as Baloo, Louis Prima brilliant as King Louis, the whole monkey temple scene still makes me laugh today, George Sanders, very much imitated since, as Shere Khan and even cameos from the Beatles as the vultures. This film has all the elements of perfect family entertainment pleasing every generation. The music is also the best ever used in most films let alone a Disney cartoon. Just cannot fault this at all, your children's grandchildren will be watching this in years to come and it'll still be getting 5 stars.

 Best film ever
