A critically acclaimed film that won a total of eight 1970 Academy Awards (including Best Picture), Patton is a riveting portrait of one of the 20th century's greatest military geniuses. One of its Oscars went to George C. Scott for this triumphant portrayal of George Patton, the only Allied general truly feared by the Nazis.

Charismatic and flamboyant, Patton designed his own uniforms, sported ivory-handled six-shooters, and believed he was a warrior in past lives. He outmaneuvered Rommel in Africa, and after D-Day led his troops in an unstoppable campaign across Europe. But he was as rebellious as well as brilliant, and as Patton shows with insight and poignancy, his own volatile personality was one enemy he could never defeat.

Patton (1970) is an epic WWII movie that won seven Oscars including Best Picture, Best Director & Best Actor. The movie stars George C Scott, Karl Malden, Karl Michael Vogler and Michael Bates.

The story follows charismatic and controversial General George Patton (Scott) during World War II. Beginning with Patton's tour in North Africa and progressing through to the invasion of Germany.

George C Scott is absolutely fantastic in this movie. His character is stubborn, bigheaded and flirts with insubordination. Scott plays Patton as an exceptional leader of men who is more then aware of his own importance and destiny. Patton's mannerisms and character are completely nailed by Scott.

Director Franklin J Schaffner (Planet Of The Apes) manages to keep the movie interesting despite its long running time. Schaffner also handles the epic scope of the movie superbly. There are multiple locations featuring some epic battle scenes. Special mention should also go to screenwriter Francis Ford Coppola (The Godfather) whose script gave Schaffner and Scott so much to work with.

Patton is an epic WWII movie. A textured and human portrait of a great and flawed man.
