Weird events in the life of atomic scientist Cal Meacham culminate in an invitation from the strange-looking Exeter to work at a secret lab in Georgia, supposedly in the cause of world peace. Other scientists are already there, including the gorgeous Ruth Adams. They quickly discover there's more to Exeter than meets the eye. Is he benevolent? It may take an interstellar journey to find out.

the special effects are obviously out dated, in fact are very funny at points lol the aliens are just guys in bug costumes and people with big foreheads, but the film was very good despite not a lot reli happening it was very entertaining..

 classic 50s sci-fi

ever wanted to build an interocitor? watch this film and discover how!! absolutely brilliant if you are a fan of '50s sf films.bits of it may be daft but it is hugely watchable/enjoyable if you let your imagination loose!! a complete classic. add to your collection- which must also include: 'it came from outer space', 'the thing from another world','the day the earth stood still' etc

Metalunan society is breaking down and there is little hope

This Island Earth is a classic 1955 American science fiction film based upon the 1952 novel written by Raymond F Jones using the then state of the art effects which combined with a good story is most entertaining. Just dont expect digital DTS surround sound and CGI and you wont go too far wrong. This film is a cut above most of the other B movies from the time whilst not quite placing it in the top draw with the aliens being nice and nasty by turns. Great stuff and if you like 50s Sci fi you MUST add this too your collection for those people I recommend this 100% .

Earth is my kind of Island, I like the atmosphere.

~~Brief Synopsis~~
One day electronic expert Dr Cal Meacham is sent some unusual components through the post, his curiosity is aroused even more when a book arrives showing him how to build an Alien device using the components.
This is the start of an adventure that leads to another planet, involvement in an interplanetary war, and a possible invasion of Earth.
This delightful and very fifties film, is to me the epitome of fifties Sci-fi.
Uncommonly for a Sci-fi film from this era it's in vibrant colour, and really makes the most out of it.
A simple storyline, competent actors, and most refreshingly of all no CGI.
I'm not totally against modern films useing CGI, the trouble I find is, they rely on it too much. And it's only recently that it's started to look realistic. I prefer films from the fifties which use a well detailed model, well lit.
The remote controlled DC-3 aircraft, used by the aliens to bring the Earth scientist's to them was an intriguing idea for 1955.
This is a film for all fifties science fiction connoisseur's.
Based on the novel by Raymond F Jones.
(Modern Sci-fi movies could learn a lot about pacing, from these 50's classic's.)
