Robert Rodriguez's prodigiously talented protégé Douglas Aarniokoski directs The Day, an edge-of-your-seat action horror, in the vein of Mad Max, Assault On Precinct 13 and From Dusk Til Dawn.

Open war against humanity rages. Five survivors - lost and on the run. The pursuit is relentless, the bullets are dwindling and the battle is everywhere. The Day has come.
  • Suitable for 18 years and over. Not for sale to persons under age 18. By purchasing this product, you declare that you are 18 years of age and over.

Loved every second of this movie, it's a simple film with a small cast and a low budget but very well spent, great cast of actors especially Ashley bell from the last exorcism, loved watching her in this!! The effects are good too very bloody and violent, the movie has a good tone to it too throughout very dull and bleak looking future, simple story about a group of humans trying to stay alive in the last days on earth against violent gangs that want meat basically (everyone has turned barbaric in need of food) very entertaining gem of a film, a must see. Shame there is no UK bluray version or features.

a darker version of the road

If you like THE ROAD then you will like this darker version of a futurist world falling apart. A world where everyone looks after number one, themselves.
Caught it at the beginning of the year at Frightfest 2012 (Glasgow) and it was one of the unexpected highlights.

Not a bad way to pass a day

OK post-apocalyptic smackdown with a ragtag group of survivors holing up in a remote house only to discover that (a) it is booby-trapped and (b) it is basically a meat-rack for a group of cannibals who have been alerted that it is dinner time. Viscerally well staged on a microbudget, this portrays its kills with ruthless efficiency and even manages to create some mild interest out of the main characters.
