"Angels In America" is long, depressing and dark but - if you can get through it - it is an incredible piece of work. Astonishing performances from all of the actors concerned, this is a fantastic portrayal of a group of characters in absolute despair. Very strong content and powerhouse performances - well worth a look, if you can cope with watching it without killing yourself half way through!
angels in america could be the best film ive ever seen, the acting is first class,it stirred up so many different emotions within me,the film taps into our minds with an incredible intensity, the characters have so much depth, where do we go when we die?is it a better place?are our loved ones who passed before waiting for us?questions we all have as humans.a haunting and beautiful film, highly recommended.
I have seen many American dramas and sadly nothing had come close to the brilliant 'Roots' saga of the '70's. But, Angels in America has gained top spot as my favourite. Although the topic of this series was about death and the trauma it causes, it was spell binding to watch. The casting was sublime, from Al Pacino's portrayal of a bitter and loathsome character to Emma Thompsons metaphoric roles as iconic Angel and Earthy and compassionate nurse. For me, it was a marvellous philosophical deep drama, exploring complex issues of relationships fallen apart. Rather than the usual plastic productions of recent times.
The series did not live up to the hype.A typical example of a serious story being reduced to the level of a soap drama .Including a wild looking , slightly deranged Al Pacino in a production has occasionally worked but does not guarantee a success.
