Too Beautiful To Die. Too Wild To Live.

It's late '70s New York. Studio 54, designer jeans, drugs and disco. One girl is living life in the fast lane. She can have any man -- or any woman -- she wants. Sex, money, glamour, fame, it's all within her reach. She walks toward you across the dance floor, struts toward you down the runway, stares at you from the cover of a magazine. She's a goddess. She's a star. Her name is Gia.

Based on the true story of a young supermodel who tastes the excesses of New York life and pays the ultimate price, this film is a powerful piece of work. However, most people will watch it because Angelina Jolie gets her kit off. Several times.

 Amazing performance by Jolie

I was just about to go to bed last night and this film came on the tv, I stayed up until gone 12 to watch it as I couldnt turn it off. So now im buying it :) such a good film!

Very visual film which captured the life of Gia wonderfully.
However, I disagree with a previous review of there being too much lesbian sex as there was only one scene, which was not worthy of an '18' rating.
'Gia' is a sad and moving film but you cannot resist watching it to the very end.

 Amazing!

Angelina Jolie depicts the life of a girl called Gia perfectly. The film is quite a slow grower and will take some time to get into but after a while it has you gripped. It shows you the frailty and the insecurities even the most tough seeming of people have. A love story and a personal struggle harmonizes thoughout the film, occasionally colliding with each other at parts. Some of Gia's decisions will leave you quite confused, and quite honestly deflated, but that is what makes her such a unique and exceptional person.

 Very sad film

As a whole, this is such an emotional, consuming film, and Angelina Jolie gives an amazing performance.
However, I hate to sound like some moany pensioner, but I wasn't expecting as much lesbian sex as there was in this film, and I wonder whether it was really needed. Whilst certain scenes capture the emotion, or highlight a certain situation, others just seem to have been thrown in to please the blokes. Maybe I'm just being cynical.
The documentary style of the film, with Gia's 'friends and family' (actually the actors) was slightly confusing at first, but after a while just added to the emotion of the film.
