what a top film, worth £9.99 of everyones money, i aint enjoyed a gay film as much since Beautiful Thing. Its nice to see a film that shows a love story rather than the usual headonistic perception that gay films usualy portray
No other words can describe this surperbly crafted peice of gay cinema. All the peices just come together and the result:! a feel good movie that goes with you for days after and stirs up lots of feelings and emotions and makes you want to watch all over again, Gay cinema really struggles to get funding and quite often falls flat with cheap production values and bad acting, This little star overcomes all those short comings and produces a rare gem which you don't get very often. If your looking for a excellent gay drama that will make u think and feel good after 85 mins this is your cup of tea
As a gay man, I am have seen many, many gay films, most of which are to be honest, pretty awful. This however, is a splendid, unpatronising, uplifting and heartwarming film, that is set in the masculine world of surfing. There are no camp men, no limp wrists, no drag queens, no drugs, just a wonderful story about 2 ordinary men (1 of whom is having difficulty with his being gay) falling in love. The secondary characters are also great; the supportive brother and best friend, and the selfish, and on first glance homophobic sister all helping to make this a great gay film. I put this up there with Latter Days and Brokeback Mountain; definately one of my top gay films of all time. It's well acted, well cast, well written and well directed. It also has a great, chilled out soundtrack which is worthy of mention. Kudos to all involved. A true diamond in the rough.
This is one of the most beautifully shot and acted movied i have ever seen. It's no surprise that is has scooped up numerous awards from festival to festival.
Trevor Wrights performance as Zac - a boy coping with being a man far too early and also with his growing and changing feelings conflicting with his family and his life is so convincing it can bring you to tears!
Brad Rowe also gives an outstanding performance as Sean the surfing buddy that falls for Zac and helps him cope with his life and inspire him to follow his dreams.
The cast is as strong as the plot and in my opinion much more effective than brokeback mountain in telling a true story of gay life and it's joys and trials. The cinematograhy is also stunning with the great use of the sea against the gorgeous orange californian skyline!
An absolute gem of a movie that deserves to be a huge hit this summer! You won't be dissapointed!
I have had this a while now and I really love it I can not stop watching it I would highly recommend it the best gay film I have ever watched.
