When at last he finds the perfect woman (the model Eihi Shiina), she disappears, leaving a bizarre trail of gruesome murders in her path...

i brought this film because of the other 5 star reviews and i wasnt let down...very slow but deliberate because the director is purposly trying to build up the immense tension and the end of the film is just so hard to watch i could almost feel the poor blokes pain,it takes something special to make me cringe and squirm and this did.......this is a must see, dont miss it!

 A Film of 2 halfs!

I find this film very hard to review, its definately not for everyone but if you like japanese horror and are not to screamish then this is definately worth a look, I found the first half intiguing as it draws you into the story and characters and the second half, well I won't ruin it but lets just say you may want to turn away from the screen.
I still haven't got round to watching Miike's Ichi The Killer and after this I'm not in too much of a hurry as if its a disturbing as Audition then it's going to need a strong stomach!
Definately worth a watch!

 Masterpiece!

Kinni kinni kinni kinni kinni... A truly brilliant film, where love story meets horror in a superb fashion. Haunting, chilling and thought provoking long after the credits rolls just like good films should be!

Slow paced well made film. NOT FOR KIDS

This is Takashi Miike's 1999s masterpiece, the film is about a husband which loses his wife and stay single for a long time living with his son. And one day a friend of his, a tv producer, tells him that its time to find a new woman, and suggests that they can hold a fake audition so he can meet women. And a woman he meets, cute and innocent Asami. This is a very slow paced film, but well made. And it take its time to build up for a finale you wont forget. Highly recommend this for people use to Miike's films and pshycological horror. Not for everybody tho' 8/10. The Tartan dvd is fully uncut and have a great quality.

A brilliant film to mess up your head!

What a fantastic film! Even the first hour as a romantic comedy kept me entertained! However i do have to warn this is not for the faint hearted. I wouldn't say I'm the type of person to find things so disgustingly horrifying i would have to reach for the pause button and take a long break from watching but three quarters of the way into the film that's exactly what i did. However this does not get in the way with the fact that the film is brilliant and at least it does it's job of terrifying and grossing me out to the point of taking a break from the film!! A must watch!
