This more comic and kid friendly based sequel stars two of the main actors of the brilliant original. This time they play two grave robbers, who get affected by the deadly toxin. The film starts quite well, and the resurrection of the dead from there graves sequence is very good, and also very funny. But the tone of the film lacks the shocks that worked so well with the gags in the original. The film also does lack the pacing of it's predecessor. The film is a pretty good rollercoaster, but is more kid friendly and never has the overall effect of the original. Also the music to this film is different to the video released version, with a very dated 80's rock sountrack replacing the original much funkier score. This is a pretty average sequel, but far, far better than the dead awful parts 4 and 5. A flawed but worthy addition to any Zombie fans collection !

Couple of bullies crack open a barrel of Trioxin, and in a nearby cemetery things are about to get more lively. The town is in quarantine with soldiers in the front of the town, zombies in the back, it just seems there is no hope for the characters to keep their brains not to get swallowed up or shot by the men in green.
Like the first ROTLD this is more of a comedy than a horror film, but this time the humor is forced and dumbed down and the whole thing seems to be improvised on the spot. It only manages to be at best a so-bad-it´s-good movie; that´s the reason I´ve watched it many times.
Like others have already mentioned: the Warner Bros DVD contains a 95% different music soundtrack and also a few extra lines than the VHS. I guess that WB didn´t want to pay royalties for the original music since ROTLD2 is only a minor cult classic. The bad side to this is that some soundeffects are completely absent due to the new soundtrack, and altered soundeffects are totally out-of-place. There is no opening theme anymore, it´s replaced by a narration (the first warning for me), and nomore "monster mash" playing through the endtitles (although still mentioned on the credits).
I got annoyed watching this DVD, since it´s not the Return of the Living Dead pt 2 that I´ve watched over ten times, and it just felt like a completely different movie.
One star for the DVD.
Two to three stars for the movie.
The US army are delivering some secret barrels to base when one falls off a truck. Soon two local bullies find it and open it releasing a lethal gas that can bring the dead back to life. Anyone in contact with this lethal gas becomes infected and the only way to ease the pain is to eat brains. A brother and sister and the cable repair man try and survive the onslaught of the undead along with the local alcoholic Doctor and some Graveyard thieves.
As sequels go this reminds me of Evil Dead 2 in that it kind of remakes the first film even using the same characters and Actors. If you liked the First Return Of The Living Dead then you should get this sequel.
There is one thing though this DVD has had the soundtrack drastically changed from the original. Lots of the music has been changed for reasons beyond my knowledge. The original music is available on this DVD on the French soundtrack. It is a shame that the DVD did not have the original soundtrack in English.
Again much like the first this film has evrything, i would say this is slightly better then thefirst purely because its pure mayhem, again i would recommend this to any dawn of the dead fan
