Kevin Bacon takes on small town America with the power of dance! Aided by a brick-sized walkman and a Kenny Loggins title song, our light footed rebel pouts, struts, and bangs surfaces hard with his hands to bring bad Eighties dancing to a bunch of hicks. While the rest of the world were transfixed by breakdancing, this Wayne Sleep is dragging his new friends kicking and screaming into the Fifties.
Even better our Kev plays chicken with tractors, smokes, and dances out his anger in beautifully lit factories; of course smashing against the hood of his car while drinking a brew to prove how angry he is.
Still Kev beats the authorities with the aid of Sarah Jessica Parker(with even less style than she has now), the girl from Fame, and Chris Penn who he teaches to dance in an hilarious montage. And what does he succeed in winning for the young teens? A party so hideous your nan would shun it.
So is it any good? Of course it is-a guilty pleasure to die for. Let's Hear It For The Boy!
Im a child of the 80's and love all things 80's and this suprb feel good 80's hit is simply brilliant.
Yes it is outdated now but you cant help but sing along with the amazing 80's soundtrack which is loaded with massive hits from the 80's.
Kevin Bacon is great in the lead role that rebels against the towns dancing and music ban to lead the senior class into their first senior dance in over 5 years.
This is a must for anyone who loves 80's films or if you like Dirty Dancing and Flashdance then you will love Footloose.
What can I say? If you're a child of the '80s and remember seeing this for the first time at the cinema or (like me) a couple of years later on video, this DVD is important for nostalgic purposes. This obviously appeals to 30-something women because of the now dated dance scenes, and I defy anyone falling into that category to resist wanting to watch the whole thing again when the credits start rolling at the end.
In response to a previous review, there is a special edition version of Footloose but it's only available from America. Luckily, thanks to my obsession with this film and a thoughtful husband, I own one!
This film is fantastic wasnt boring at all. Great for women and men to watch. Kevin Bacon was brilliant. As a great music soundtrack as well.
I have seen this film on tv twice and enjoyed watching it both times.Kevin Bacon gives a brilliant performance as per usual.
Buy this dvd,it's a great addition to any dvd collection!
Really great family movie. And a major bonus Kevin Bacon with his shirt off. ..............
I was only a nipper when Footloose came out but, luckily, I had an older cousin and it has always been a fave of mine. The soundtrack is amazing and, although somewhat old-fashioned these days, it's still a great film. And for this price it doesn't matter if you watch it and don't like it! Excellent buy.
I saw this three times at the cinema in the 80s when it originally came out. Absolutely loved it so I had to buy the dvd, it brings back a lot of teenage memories. Pity a dvd with some good extras hasn`t been released...yet, but I give it 5 stars anyway. Kevin Bacon is brilliant as Ren, the new kid in town who just wants to dance!
Loved the film. The dancing was pretty good too. Kevin Bacon is trying to make a difference in a quiet, boring town. See how one teen can change a whole towns way of thinking. Another classic film.....well worth the watch.
i love this film, bacon is brilliant and i recommend you to buy it
