However, on her arrival she discovers her mother has burnt out and is now living in a haze of whiskey.

April In Paris: A bureaucratic mix-up sends chorus girl Ethel Jackson all the way to Paris to represent the American Theatre at an Arts Show instead of the professional Ethel Barrymore.
