At a time when crimes of passion result in celebrity headlines, nightclub sensation Velma Kelly and spotlight-seeking Roxie Hart both find themselves sharing space on Chicago's famed Murderess Row! They also share Billy Flynn, the town's slickest lawyer with a talent for turning notorious defendants into local legends. But in Chicago, there's only room for one legend!

Once you get over Richard Gere sounding like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins you're in for a treat! Musically brilliant. Saw it on Stage - didn't disappoint musically but wasn't as good as this film!! You just want to sing along - brilliant!

Chicago: the musical for musical loathers

You so urgently want to hate it, but you JUST CAN'T. At best you'll find yourself dazzled by the sets, amazing dance routines, breakneck pace, clever lyrics and the 'oooh, isn't she a good singer/mover for a hollywood type?' At worst, you'll be grudgingly impressed by the work that Zeta-Jones and Zelwegger have done on their bodies.
For musical-lovers, it's way, way more than just unbeliveable, slightly camp escapism and for musical-haters it's the conversion you had been praying would never happen.
I still hate musicals, but this is just utterly brilliant.
