A very under-rated film a wonderful music score by ELO and a beautiful leading lady Olivia Newton John, what more could you ask for?
Some say cheesy but if you are an old romantic that adores happy endings this is the film for you.
And a big cheer for the costume department 80's style with added pazazz.
Xanadu is a big cheese, dressed up with glitz and glamour. Telling the simple tale of a muse, who was sent to inspire an album painter to open a club with a stranger. And call it Xanadu. From rollerskating, to murals bursting with life, 80's pop and style, crazy fashion and a blooming love relationship. Xanadu is pure fun, with memorable scenes and an amazing soundtrack. Unfortunately if you are expecting oscar material, this is not for you - note how it destroyed Olivia Newton John and Michael Beck's acting careers!
if you were born in the 1970's like me you will remember this film. ELO music is just fabulous and you will remember all the tunes when you watch it. WELL WORTH A BUY .
This is absolutely a must-see!! The 1940s meeting the 1980s creates a highly entertaining musical style film that puts a smile on your face anytime! :)
Everyone had high hopes for this after Olivia's success in Grease. However, we were to be disappointed, the songs are great and Olivia looks beautiful, however, it's poor, I'm not sure if its the script, or production, because the acting is at its best mediocre. It aspires to be a big Hollywood musical, but even with the great Gene Kelly it just doesn't work.
