Top 10 DVD Reviewer

You like Abba? You really like Abba? You like Abba enough to listen to cover versions by people who can't sing? You sure? Do you mind if the film is directed by someone with no technical competence, let alone style? Really? Then this is the film for you.

As the movie version of the stage adaptation of The Producers should have shown, you can't take a stage play and put it on the big screen with no changes. The broad gestures and surreal moments that work on stage just come across as plain wrong in the cinema - and on DVD it's even worse.

To be fair, some of the routines are performed well - but they are merely curios compared to the flawless originals. They don't even try to do anything novel with the songs, these aren't covers - this is karaoke.

And it apears this is all people want from this film, after all it comes with a sing-a-long option. As something weird to put on at a party whilst drunk then it serves its purpose, but as a film no-one but the most hysterical Streep / Abba obsessive could give this more than 2.5/5.

The most cheesy and cringey film i have ever seen. If your into that fine, but i dont see what the hype is about.

I have a high movie standered so i will not give this any thing higer then 1.

Absolutly no plot what so ever, i feel it was a bit of an excuse to just have abba songs and have abba fans claim it to be happy because you can sing the songs? But this doesnt mean it deserves 5 stars!!!

This is a film review not an abba review!

I will never ever watch again, i got a headache and the dancing was very questionable!

I didnt like the way the movie is used for an advert for abba songs, i love the way since this has been released an abba singstar etc etc has been released!! :0

1 Star.

Customer rating: 1 out of 5 stars disappointing and boring

I was so looking forward to this musical, but found it to be boring in the extreme, having a weak plot and very poor singing when compared to the 'Real McCoy'
The film was carried along by the actors squealing and screaming their way through.
By the halfway mark I was clock watching and waiting with anticipation for the film to finish.

This movie is probably the most disgustingly twee, putrid tripe i've ever seen in my life, After 20 minutes i just wanted to be sick, but i stuck with it until the end and as i suspected, it got worse and worse and worse. I am a big fan of Meryl Streep and Julie Walters but in this movie i discovered that they can't act at all.

Just seen a preview screening of this movie - absolutely brilliant. If you love the stage musical you will love this movie - i can't sing its praises highly enough. Even if you haven't seen the show, buy this movie - you will be laughing all the way through. Great scenic locations, great cast and a great film.

I was so looking forward to watching this film but I can only assume that I'm missing something.
The actors cannot sing - it's like watching bad karaoke. A very thin story line, I kept watching to see if it would improve but no, it didn't. This is one story that is great on stage but hasn't translated into a good film.

Some of these reviews saying wow what a fantastic film! Well its not! It might be fantastic at being a sing-a-long but this doesnt make the film itself fantastic!

The acting is ott, but perhaps fits with the story there and the singing is very sub standered..

It might be "fantastic" to abba fans, but the film its self is no where near fantastic.. Its not well made and a film has to be well made to be fantastic.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Wow!

What an amazing film! It was so nice to go and watch a film which did not contain any blood, gore or violence - left the cinema feeling like I absolutely wanted to be there, dancing and singing everywhere 24/7 for the next week! Such an amazing feel good film - even my 80 year old Grandparents loved it (which says it all really - the 10 O' Clock News is usually a struggle) !! I cannot wait for this film to be released on DVD! I can see many girlie nights in with this one and it will definately be watched over and over again! :-)
