I really disliked this film, i lent it of a friend and was so bored!! i really wanted to get to the end to see if it got any better, but i was just willing it to end... SO BORING
When i first saw the film in the cinema I was expecting a few hours of escapism, and thus was slightly irritated when i ended up counting down the minutes untill i could leave.
Hairspray unashamedly dums down the historically important issue of black rights and segregation and is also unashamedly preaching to audiences.
It may be great for children, but not for lovers of the original, or, in fact, the stage show.
If you like a good singalong you will love this movie.
Great acting from all key players.
Must See !
Went to see this in cinema when it first started showing. Cant wait for it to come out on dvd. It is a proper girly film perfect for girls nights in. John Travolta is absolutely out standing in this. Is definatly a feel good movie. Would strongly recommend.
I was pestered into watching this by my wife and its safe to say why most men dont want to watch this film its very cheesey to say the least and John Travolta dressed as a woman is very scary.
The music is ok the songs are ok too if your other half forces you to watch it then there are worse films to watch than this but as a guy dont watch it out of free will wait until your forced. From a womans point of view im sure you will love it as it really is aimed at you.
A brilliant film and absolutely hilarious at times. I have to admit that I wasn't sure at first but I loved it. Not a film to be taken to seriously but great for kids especially. Loved it.
I saw this film at the pictures recently - its was absolutely wicked. I hope I get the DVD for Chrstmas (are you reading this Mum?)
a feal good movie but a let down compared to the reviews but if you like musicals then you will love this.
john tarolta is really good as a women plays it really well.
I first saw this at the cinema and I hated it, the main reason for this was due to the awful performance from John Travolta - What is his accent supposed to be??
Anyway, after it was released on DVD and I had chance to become familiar again with the songs, I decided to watch it again and even though I still winced through Mr Travolta's awful performance, I actually enjoyed it this time round.
All the cast dance and sing their hearts out with the excellent choreography and some of the catchiest songs that you will find in a musical! You may not notice how bad John Travolta is but I think it is the only think that spoils the film.
I am glad i didnt buy this film i lent it off a friend un i did not enjoy it at all the old film was better with rikki lake in, I REALLY DIDNT LIKE IT AT ALL
