After being highly impressed by moon i was looking forward to source code especially once i saw the trailer for it. the film is very clever and even though the action relives the same scenario over and over it never fails to add something different and keeps the viewers attention. the acting is very good and Vera Farmiga is the stand out performer. there are some shots in the film which will make you think wow. a very clever film and one of the best of the year.
The story is based in the same place, over and over, this is difficult to pull off, and other films have seemed to drag, but this one didnt fail to keep my eyes glued to the screen, Jake Gylenhall is excellent in this film, shows many sides to his charecter, and pulls out a great chemistry with the other actors/actresses.
Kept me guessing too, great all round and appeals to a wide audience i'd say!
Duncan Jones' follow up to his acclaimed 2009 debut film 'Moon' is an altogether more popcorny affair but is one which nontheless exhibits an unusually smart sci-fi script underneath a very human story that makes it in some ways reminiscient of 'The Adjustment Bureau' earlier this year.
Jake Gyllenhall plays Steven Colter, a soldier who awakes finds himself suddenly inside the body of Sean Fentriss, a passenger on a Chicago train just minutes before a bomb explodes and derails the train, killing all on board. He then awakes again and discovers he is inside the Source Code..........a new system that can place a person inside the body of another eight minutes before they die. His mission is go back and relive the last eight minutes before the train bomb explodes in order to discover the identity of the bomber.........who has threatened to detonate a dirty bomb in Chicago itself the same day. With the race on to find out who the bomber is, Colter also comes to realise there are other secrets to be discovered about his mission.
Pacey, energetic and avoiding the pitfalls of many time loop films it's a thoroughly entertaining 93 minutes with a well cast Gyllenhall anchoring the film and well supported by the likes of Vera Farmiga (who takes a nothing role and makes it a memorable one), Michelle Monaghan and Jeffrey Wright and it bodes well for the future of Jones' directorial career.
Recommended.
Totally loved this movie and enjoyed it more than Inception. Don't miss this MUST-SEE film.
An action thriller centered on a soldier who wakes up in the body of an unknown man and discovers he's part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train.
This is a brilliant film. I highly enjoyed the storyline of how the movie gradually started from the beginning each time, but built up each time which made it a lot more interesting, even though the film is very repetitive, it is still packed full of action and thrills. Brilliant.
