its more like a documentary than a movie.

I am far from a F1 fan and if I am being honest I have not watched a race since Senna was sadly killed. I watched this DVD with my husband expecting it to be extremely boring but I was drawn in immediately. This is what I would describe as a documentary. I particularly enjoyed the spats between Senna & Prost which brought a bit of fun to the film. Senna was such a beautiful man and a superb sports man and human being. He for me is a F1 legend and a hero both on and off the track. I would recommend buying this DVD even if you are not a fan of F1 it has a place in most peoples lives. A true legend and a wonderful human being who will never be forgotten.

Top 100 DVD Reviewer

Piecing together footage and interviews Senna follows the career of the legendary Brazilian Formula One driver Ayrton Senna from his arrival in Europe in 1978 to his tragic death in 1994 aged just thirty-four.

Whether you are a formula one fan or not this insight into one of motor racings, indeed sports, most unique personalities makes for a fascinating and moving watch throughout.

I am a fan of formula one but even if you are not a fan you will love this film. It is made using only footage from the career of Aryton Senna and shows the trials that he faced when trying to become a world class formula one driver. Also as it only uses real footage you get a real connection with the movie and also to Senna himself. The ending is very sad indeed and it is a very well made movie.

This is quite simply a stunning film. Ayrton Senna's life is recorded in a truly momentous documentary feature that comprises thankfully no talking heads, just voiceovers from those that loved and knew this legendary sportsman, amongst them Alain Prost and members of Senna's own family. Interspersed with fantastic racing action from his ten years in Formula One, you get a rare glimpse of what his life was like away from the glare of publicity as he steadily rose to become a sporting hero in his native Brazil, while climbing his way up the Formula One ladder from his spectacular performance in the rain at the 1984 Monaco grand prix (driving for Toleman) to the pinnacle of his career when becoming a three-times World Champion with McLaren. His now infamous rivalry with Prost is detailed (I think without the producers slanting it any particular way, much to their credit) but never becomes a hatchet job on either driver and this adds to the quality of the narrative. The last fifteen minutes are terribly difficult to watch as the tragically inevitable conclusion is reached, but this is above all else a film that celebrates a global sporting legend and a deeply religious, thoughtful human being. I can't recommend this highly enough, as this should prove to be equally as gripping to non-motorsport viewers as well as Formula One fans.

watched this last night and I anticipated I would be bored after half an hour because my attention span is not that great but I was so wrong. this documentary gripped me from start to finish. I'm 26 so I was too young for the senna/prost era but had obviously heard about it. a truley remarkable and touching story. a definate additional to the collection.

The word great gets used a lot these days, but this guy was in every sense of the word. If you don't believe in God like myself before watching this film then your thoughts after might make you question that. 11/10 Honestly one of the best DVD's i have ever seen, a must buy.
