Goal! 1-3 Triple Pack

You don't have to like Football to enjoy this trilogy, as although not original is mostly a crowd pleasing underdog story.
Back in 2004 there was much hype about this planned trilogy of movies, as we follow young Santiago Munez from pennyless Mexican with a talent for football from being spottted and then trying out for Newcastle UTD ( poor choice!) then to the Euro's and in the fanal movie the world cup. Mostly the trilogy keeps it's word but scores a home Goal in the final part.
GOAL! 2004
Although not original this is a great underdog story, and the in game action is brilliant, with a clever blend of green screen and actors playing along with real players and a bonus of a brilliant soundtrack it's impossible not to get carried along by it all.
This could be the best Football movie ever made.

GOAL II Living the dream.2006
Not as good as the first film, and lacks the energy, but this movie shows us the darker side to the game, with all the press intrusions faulse stories and all the trappings of fame.
With all the stories that have been in the press about Ashly Coal and John Terry the movie seems to hit the nail on the head.
Things get back on track with the in game action and again brilliant soundtrack and a to be continued ending that leaves you begging for the final chapter.

GOAL III Taking on the world 2009
We have followed Santiago's progress through two movies, why side line him to a camio and not conclude his story?
The movie is very frustrating as it seems to go back on what the original idea to the trilogy intended. We now have to follow a dull new story with new characters, the film looks cheap and rushed. A huge disappointment for the final chaper that makes the previous film feel redundant as story strands are left hanging, and no propper conlusion to Santiago's story.

The trilogy is like the current England Team as it promises everything but always seem to stumble at the final third.
So the third chapter is a disappointment, but the first two movies are crowd pleasing guilty pleasures, and ideal for anyone who want's to salvage what they can from the latest England disappointment at the 2010 South African World Cup.
