What if your worst enemy was your own conscience?

Starring Idris Elba (The Wire) Luther is a deeply thrilling crime series, crackling with energy, distinctive characters and snappy, clever dialogue. On a moral crusade, too often with only his convictions for company, John Luther is a deeply troubled man, a philosophical cop possessed by the insoluble problem of evil and justice in a Godless world. Confronting depravity in its many terrible forms, over a succession of psychological duels between hunter and hunted, perpetrator and prey, Luther reveals his capacity for violence as well as kindness; his sudden vulnerability and dizzying, visionary mind; why his wife left him for another man, and why his colleagues are frequently left open-mouthed in awe. As the stakes get ever higher and more personal, Luther's lonely path pulls him towards the very edge of temptation. Will the relentless pursuit of light tip him into the ultimate darkness?

Alice! There is love in this world-So you lose!

Luther is dark, terrifyingly twisted-is he a good guy? Who the hell cares? All these things make it brilliant. And Alice! Dont get me started on her take in the series-in short she ROCKS!

For once the BBC have something worth watching, each episode is different but dark and twisted-they really have pushed the envelope with this series and it works brilliant.

I cant wait for the second series, the story is amazing and the cast act out their skin!

Luther is one of the first serious BBC drama programmes I've liked, in fact I'd class it in one of my top ten programmes of all times. It glues you to the screen and leaves you wanting more. The acting is terrific and the character Alice, is a quality peice of writing!! John Luther is one messed up good guy!!

Have loved this series on bbc one , for its darkness and gritty storylines. Idris elba is fantastic as luther and walks a thin line between the good and bad side of human nature, think the character of alice is a real bonus to the show as her and luther have quite a twisted relationship.Fingers crossed it will get the go ahead for a second series . Will be addind this to my dvd collectionxx

 Best of the BBC

This cop show is one of the reasons I enjoy television. Every episode is gripping, dark and emotional.
The background storyline is strong, well thought out and brought to life by a wonderful cast but does not detract from the different case each epsiode covers. One of the best british TV dramas in the last 10 years.
