Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy / Smiley's People: Double Pack (4 Discs)

TTSS was a seminal production back in the day, and it still stands up well today when viewed as a period piece. It set the standard for all such productions to come and, whilst Spooks is maybe slicker and (naturally) more high tech, it doesn't suirpass these originals. As a follow-up to TTSS, Smiley's People did not and does not fail to match up in every way. Of course, Guinness excels, but so too do the rest of the cast. Whatever your taste in thrillers, suspend the crash-bang aspect for a moment and you'll LOVE these masterpieces. The picture and sound are occasionally less than perfect ... but somehow this adds to the ambience!.
